* I had my eye on this rooster since it arrived at Walmart in the spring at $29.95. I picked it us last week for $15 - it might go lower, but I didn't want to take the chance and lose out. It's metal - and it is really much cooler in real life. Yeah, it's tacky - but it's my kind of tacky :-)

* I grocered today. Odds and ends because I'm pretty stocked up. IDK why I'm posting pictures of my groceries

I've had these koi votive holders for years. I never have actual candles in them - they just sit on a shelf. Last night while watching American Idol I taped I looked over at them and had to do something about it - RIGHT THEN. (is that obesssive-compulsive?). Anyway - I had some faux orchids I bought for something and changed my mind - so I cut them up and borrowed a couple pieces of florist foam from another arrangement in the house, and pebbles from a container I had filled with them - and here is what happened....

Here's where it went

The weather was crummy Sunday, so I stayed in and played around in the kitchen.

* First I made bread. One regular Whole Wheat loaf (with random spices) and one I made with dehydrated collard greens (I know, it doesn't sound appetizing, but I have a lot of collard greens I dehydrated from the garden - and they don't taste so good in green smoothies).

* Then I made bean&veggie calzones to freeze for lunches. I put dried Romaine powder in the dough so it's green. It tasted good, but next time maybe a little less Romaine.....

* I also hung the Wallpaper border I bought well over a year ago. I paid $1.50 per roll - 4 rolls did the whole room. Pretty cheap, and it's very retro (tacky) looking. I love it!! (Putting up wallpaper borders by yourself isn't easy)

* I watched AFTERMATH: POPULATION ZERO last night. It made me feel bad. I wanted us all to get the heck off this poor planet and let it breathe again. I also thought the long haired cows were cool.

* I switched as a favor and am working today (Tuesday) and was off Monday. Since I made this change the weather had to regroup and rain on Monday instead of Tuesday. My body cooperated though. I was sick as a dog Monday - I'd have had to call in if I was actually working. I stayed inside and did some home projects including hanging some wall junk I'd put off far too long.

* These are Chinese brocade Lion and Dragon. They is supposed to be a religious significance, but I haven't been able to get enough details. They look tibetan, but I bought them in a Bazaar in Japan.

This is showing my tacky side (my mom would say my filipino side - and she means that in a nice way). I like it though, it makes me happy. The window boxes were murder to hang. I finally used brackets like you use for shelving. They look crooked, but the level says they are supposed to be straight.

* Over the weekend my stalker (Angela) came over to help me plant the shade garden in the front yard. We planted Hostas, Mondo grass, and Astilbe. Hopefully it will fill in. This weekend I will mulch it and put in some decorations.

To make my bathroom bigger I took off the wooden door and put up a curtain.
Now it looks like the entrance to the circus - or a peep show.......

Privacy isn't an issue since I live alone. There is always the back bathroom for anyone who might visit :-)

I decided I'd play with this, so I bought some inexpensive ribbon and craft beads at Walmart. I Pinned the ribbons behind the rods.
Mine looked less like an exotic harem window and more like a summer camp craft project, but it was fun - and it fits in with how this room looks overall anyway.

I was at Pennys, and I loved seeing this window treatment. It is sheel panels with an overlay of ribbons/metal beads. It's a middle eastern / harem look. Love it. Ribbon overlays were $40 per 42" panel - I think I can make it for about a third of that. I'll post a materials list etc. if I decide to try and make it myself.

Yay - new sheets! I am very ~~frugal~~ cheap, so new linen doesn't happen very often. I got these in the temporary bargain area at Walmart (an area they create to fill the empty shelves between summer garden items and Halloween decorations) for $7.00! (flat sheet, fitted, and pillowcase). The pattern (Chrysanthemums) and colors are 100% perfect. Even Cyber likes the setup (and she hates everything).

I was really early going to my mammogram, so I decided to return videos and grab some lunch at Gatti's. I needed to use the restroom though, and I refuse to use Gatti's restroom because it is nasty. Target is in the same center, so I dropped in to use the restroom. I decided I'd take a quick lap to see what's on sale - and YOWZA!
The gardening dept had garden statuary (sp) on sale for 75% off!!! Best of all several were asian. I picked out two of the Kneeling Teppanom Mythology Angels (regular price $40) and two green ceramic lanterns (regular price $19.99). I went on my way and I was almost to the checkout when a little voice told me to go back and get two more of the angels. I did, and here they were (still in the basket :-)

I got home, brought in, and layed out my gems. (The stones were on sale for $1.19 per bag!)

The original idea was for the Angels to go into the garden somehow, but the longer I looked at them the more I wanted them to stay inside the house with me. I found the perfect place!

Now I have even more reason to get the pictures up on that wall (it looks so plain). These look even better in real life than they do in the pic. They add a welcome vibe to the house - I feel good every time I walk by them. I love it!
