* The rain has me inside AGAIN.... argh!! I did manage to get the mowing done and Roo's feet treated. I massaged in a mixture of canola and orange oil hoping this would convince whatever it is that's irritating them to move on. Here's a picture of us (doesn't he look thrilled?)

sahlah (and anyone else interested)
These are the links to the two Zencast talks I felt deal with the monotony of life (at least partially). You can listen directly from the site, or you can download to your Ipod from the sources listed on the main page (I use Itunes - you can just type in Zencast in the search bar and it will bring up all the talks.
Now - an Ekhart Tolle Q & A September 11, 2005 - I listen to this over and over - he is awesome.
Just to be Alive is Enough - a talk by Gil Fronsdal of Audio Dharma August 19, 2007
* If this isn't a Red Flag that we've got a problem with caffeine in this country, I don't know what is. They offer these shots of caffeine to add to your already caffeinated coffee along side sugars and creamers at my local convenience shop.

Date: 2008-08-25 12:28 am (UTC)We'll do an Intensive with him in Denver area in October. Was with him for 5 day silent retreat last Dec and it changes our lives!
Cute pic.. what's wrong with Roo's foot? Got tea tree? or neem?

Date: 2008-08-25 12:58 am (UTC)I will listen to those talks.
I think Roo has mites - though none of the other birds have any signs of irritation. I looked for my bottle of tea tree oil, and I can't remember where I put it. I treated their coop and yard with diatamacious (spelling) earth - so we'll see if I can get it under control without using any chemicals.

Date: 2008-08-26 12:44 am (UTC)You can see mites if you look close. I found them on my girls right by their vent area last month - you have to look really close to see them (yeah, I know - - I hope the neighbors didn't see me with a hens butt up against my face.....lol).

Date: 2008-08-26 01:20 am (UTC)Does it make them itch? Does Roo have owies from it? :-{ Poor babies... & you, too... We may have them and I don't even know.
Do you have one of those sprinking applicators for the DE? I remember reading we shouldn't use straw for the bedding since mites can live in it.. but we do use some straw.. uh oh...

Date: 2008-08-26 01:29 am (UTC)I don't see them itch, but I imagine they do. Your girls may be controlling it themselves with their dust baths.

Date: 2008-08-25 06:34 pm (UTC)The Da Vinci exhibit ends the 7th, so that's out. We could still go to the Witte - or one of the other museums. As far as I know there aren't any new special exhibits going on, but there's plenty of see anyway.
Or.... we could go browse around at the Unlimited Thought Bookstore (http://www.unlimited-thought.com).

Date: 2008-08-25 07:53 pm (UTC)Have you considered scrubbing his feet with a toothbrush to get up under the scales?? I've had to do that. I do think that my hen had mites, but she just tends to have really dirty feet, too. She's also missing her middle toenails. I call her Butch. She likes the girls and keeps my rooster cowtowing.
I ordered an iPod finally, so I hope to be able to listen to these. You always find such good stuff.
