* FedEx emailed - my Ipod is at my house waiting for me.....SQUEE!!!! Now I just want to go home, but if I do I'll lose my OT I worked this week.
* I finished painting my hallway - I'll post an entry with pics this weekend.
* I think Jesse Jackson is just suffering from Obama-Envy.
* I am signing up for my vehicle insurance with Progressive - it's 2X the coveraga at over $100 less than the current quote for renewal from my current company! I'm kind of annoyed with Allstate for ripping me off.
* The garden responded immediately to the rain we've had. I guess it's really been starved for water in spite of my watering. I need to get the drip system put back online - this will help.
* Is Demonoid legal? I don't want the feds to beat my door down - especially since my neighbor is leasing me his connection.
Out.....

Date: 2008-07-12 02:54 am (UTC)Jackson is an amazing man, and he has a right to his opinion - it's unfortunate he was mic'd, and he should have known better, but it's not the first time a public person has been caught saying something he shouldn't have. Still, he has a right to say it. He should know about people talking down to black people, he fought for black people his whole life. Obama, for the record, is mulatto, not black. He may not be the voice of the black population because of this, but he is being held aloft as some sort of black saviour. I don't know, the whole situation is baffling to me, and the reaction to Jackson is over the top, truly.
But jealousy? Well, I respect that opinion, I do, but I think it's way off base. And easier than looking at the entire situation.

Date: 2008-07-12 03:27 am (UTC)I'm not an Obama groupie, but I do like most of what I've read and heard so far. I've been keeping a pretty close eye on the campaign. My ideal candidate is Kucinich - so that'll give you a pretty good idea of where I stand politically (hehehe). Of what I've seen aside from Dennis - Obama is the next best in terms of positive thought and actual vision.
I am curious. What about Obama and/or his platform do you disagree with? I am not asking to start a debate - you'll see in my journal I'm not about that - but I am interested in learning. It will make me better informed even if it doesn't change my opinion.

Date: 2008-07-12 03:34 am (UTC)I'm anti-war, and Obama is not. His voting record goes against some of the things he is espousing now, and he voted to grant immunity to the telecom companies who aided the government in spying on us. I don't know, you have to look at how he's voted, not just what he's saying. What a candidate says is pure rhetoric, and rightly so. The idea is to get votes, so he/they will say what they will to that end.
Kucinich is my ideal candidate also! I was crushed when he dropped out. I followed him all the way from 2004, and watched all the early primary debates last year - I love that man, and I've met him and he is just as amazing in person. He's more like a visionary, or a spiritual guru than a politician, and per email received yesterday, I believe he was back on the floor of Congress pushing for impeachment once again yesterday.
To me, Obama comes across as smarmy. A lot of what I don't like is his attitude, the way he says, "Look, ..." a lot, and the way he refers to himself as "We", and the fact that nuclear annihilation of Iran is not "off the table" according to him. That is just grounds for no way will I vote for him! I can't, not in good conscience. I voted for Kerry last time around, against my better judgment, but I won't vote for the lesser of two evils this time around. I'm not sure it matters too much anyway - I live in a super red state, and all our delegates are already spoken for.
If I vote at all, it will be for Nader. I like what he stands for, and I love that his previous running mate was Winona LaDuke - she is another amazing person! And I've met her too. :) A Kucinich/LaDuke ticket would be my ultimate, seriously.

Date: 2008-07-12 03:50 am (UTC)I love Mcain as a person and role model, but I disagree with him politically on most issues. He sure says "my friends" alot just like Reagan used to.

Date: 2008-07-12 03:56 am (UTC)Oh, see this is what Nader fights against, and I'm with him 100%. We need more alternatives. Why do we have hundreds of types of toothpaste, but only two political candidates? What is wrong with this country? We need to evolve, seriously. A third party candidate is just the beginning. And in some states, like mine, a vote to keep McCain out of office is not even going to work. The delegate count is against you, or me actually.
I think McCain is an ass, but that's just my opinion. Any man that calls his wife a cunt is not cool in my book. I think he's a misogynist, and he's basically going to get into office and reverse Roe v Wade, and perpetuate everything Bush has done to ruin this country.
Told you I'm opinionated. ;)

Date: 2008-07-12 11:41 am (UTC)I live in Texas, so I'm in your boat when it comes to voting. This year I've seen a lot of HARD CORE redneck republicans talk about voting outside of their party. Even my father who is a die hard republican will probably vote the other way this time. I could see my dad voting for Nader rather than some "damn bleeding heart liberal" :-)
