I worked at the '88 Democratic Convention in Atlanta, and I saw Jesse give his speech, and I was blown away. Just like people say they're blown away by Obama.
I'm anti-war, and Obama is not. His voting record goes against some of the things he is espousing now, and he voted to grant immunity to the telecom companies who aided the government in spying on us. I don't know, you have to look at how he's voted, not just what he's saying. What a candidate says is pure rhetoric, and rightly so. The idea is to get votes, so he/they will say what they will to that end.
Kucinich is my ideal candidate also! I was crushed when he dropped out. I followed him all the way from 2004, and watched all the early primary debates last year - I love that man, and I've met him and he is just as amazing in person. He's more like a visionary, or a spiritual guru than a politician, and per email received yesterday, I believe he was back on the floor of Congress pushing for impeachment once again yesterday.
To me, Obama comes across as smarmy. A lot of what I don't like is his attitude, the way he says, "Look, ..." a lot, and the way he refers to himself as "We", and the fact that nuclear annihilation of Iran is not "off the table" according to him. That is just grounds for no way will I vote for him! I can't, not in good conscience. I voted for Kerry last time around, against my better judgment, but I won't vote for the lesser of two evils this time around. I'm not sure it matters too much anyway - I live in a super red state, and all our delegates are already spoken for.
If I vote at all, it will be for Nader. I like what he stands for, and I love that his previous running mate was Winona LaDuke - she is another amazing person! And I've met her too. :) A Kucinich/LaDuke ticket would be my ultimate, seriously.
