*  I hooked up my PC again after over 8 months of it being in the closet.  I moved it into the livingroom.  This is a tiny step forward for me.  Home PC (even seeing it hooked up and sitting there) has been a trigger to smoke.  I plan to get on it every day for a few minutes (I don't have internet, but I can to file maintenance etc.) and see how it goes.  Before I hooked it up I detailed it and also replaced the CDRW drive that's been broken forever.  After two little hiccups I had it up and running great.

*  Whilst working on the computer I noticed again how weird my habit of talking to inanimate objects is.  I wondered, as I talked my PC through the installation of the new CDRW drive, if other people do this.  I also greet my truck in the morning and again when I get ready to go home for the day.  Things like that.  I don't think it makes me crazy, but I do wonder if I'm officially eccentric.

* Deep green leafy vegetables are in full production in the garden.  Lettuce, Spinach, Mustard Greens, Bok Choy, and Collards which are the stars this year.  I've learned to like Collard Greens.  Funny how the vegetables you like least are the ones that grow the best for you.  There's alot to like about Collards if you grow them yourself.  They taste much better than what you buy in the store.  A lot of people don't know that Collards are high in Calcium and anti-oxidants.

Nothin' but Greens (and garlic/onions)

Collards (and this was after I harvested for the week - W00t!)

According to Quitnet.com :-)

Today I celebrate the fact that I have not smoked for an entire year.
Not even a butt or a puff (except when someone smokes near me)

I've quit several times in my life, but I've never been this successful before.  I agree with people who say just keep trying as it will eventually stick.  (I hope this sticks as it would suck if I ever started smoking again!)

I don't pay excessive attention to my quit.  I log onto Quitnet.com each month and pledge, but I'm careful not to dwell too much as thinking about smoking (even as it pertains to staying quit) makes me kind of want to smoke (hard to explain).

This is a big milestone for me though, so I did want to mark it with a Journal entry.

Here are a few things I think about on this day:

*  I still crave cigarettes occasionally, but in the same thought I thank the universe that I'm not smoking anymore!

* I figure I've spent around $650 on things other than cigarettes this past year (what they are I could not tell you specifically - probably junk food)

*  I've gained weight, but this is more than partly my fault.  I knew I would need to control my oral impulses - yet I allowed myself to snack etc.  This next 12 month period will be spent getting down to a healthy weight.

So, that's it - yay me :-)

 Since I've smoked a cigarette :-)

Today it's been 9 months since I've smoked a cigarette.  I try not to celebrate too much because it's a constant challenge to stay smoke-free.  It's never over.  I've relapsed so many times I lost count.  So far though - I remain smoke-free to date :-)

(Well, it's actually tomorrow - but I won't have much time to post anything tomorrow)

Big milestone for me.  I've been an on an off smoker for over 25 years.  More on than off - but when I was smoking I was always in the process of quitting.  Usually quits would last 2 months but once I quit for 6 months - never a longer stretch.  Tomorrow it will be 6 months that I've stayed smoke-free.  I don't feel a relapse coming (knocking on wood).

I think about smoking regularly, but more like "ah, I wish I could still smoke" not "damn, I need a cigarette!".  I have to stay smoke-free for my health and budget, so I cope.  I recognize myself as an addict, and this keeps me away from the smokes :-)

I celebrate every month smoke-free.  I'm really grateful to still be not smoking.
