*  I hooked up my PC again after over 8 months of it being in the closet.  I moved it into the livingroom.  This is a tiny step forward for me.  Home PC (even seeing it hooked up and sitting there) has been a trigger to smoke.  I plan to get on it every day for a few minutes (I don't have internet, but I can to file maintenance etc.) and see how it goes.  Before I hooked it up I detailed it and also replaced the CDRW drive that's been broken forever.  After two little hiccups I had it up and running great.

*  Whilst working on the computer I noticed again how weird my habit of talking to inanimate objects is.  I wondered, as I talked my PC through the installation of the new CDRW drive, if other people do this.  I also greet my truck in the morning and again when I get ready to go home for the day.  Things like that.  I don't think it makes me crazy, but I do wonder if I'm officially eccentric.

* Deep green leafy vegetables are in full production in the garden.  Lettuce, Spinach, Mustard Greens, Bok Choy, and Collards which are the stars this year.  I've learned to like Collard Greens.  Funny how the vegetables you like least are the ones that grow the best for you.  There's alot to like about Collards if you grow them yourself.  They taste much better than what you buy in the store.  A lot of people don't know that Collards are high in Calcium and anti-oxidants.

Nothin' but Greens (and garlic/onions)

Collards (and this was after I harvested for the week - W00t!)

Looks like we are both in one of those moods where we are writing a variety of items.

Good pictures. Congrats as your garden continues to grow.

Have a good week.

Dont feel bad. My car has it's own name even (Ralph) as well as do all my musical instruments. My computer is Gertrude as only a woman can multitask as much as I demand of my PC and she has hot flashes (had to put 9 fans in her to keep the CPU cool!) thanks to everything I ask her to do. So if your offically eccentric then I wonder what I am! LOL

What do you make from the Collard Greens? Can you use them like spinach?

They aren't really that good in salads because they have a thicker texture and a stronger flavor.

Once I got used to eating it I developed a taste for it - now I love it.

People in the south boil the life out of Collards mixing them with Fatback or Hamhocks - yech.

They are awesome Stir-fried or steamed. The flavor is most similar to Kale (if you aren't familiar with the flavor of Kale - think bok choy cabbage).

I talk to myself so that probably makes me a little nutty.

The garden is awesome.

Oh gosh, I talk to inanimate objects all the time. Either we are both sane or both crazy. Bwwaahhaaa

I have a habit of cussing at certain inanimate objects; does that count?

Your greens look wonderful up here in the frozen north; check the pictures in todays post!

I doubt if you'd be considered even officially eccentric in England, the home of eccentricity. I don't talk to my computer [en though or because its a mac - I used to scream at my PC when I had windows and even dropped the last one out of a third floor window so maybe I rate beyond eccentric. I envy you your gardeing skills. We do well with trees and bushes and flowers in our small secluded garden but, sitting atop a sandstone rock, the earth is not rich enough to take vegetables - or deep enough. However, we do attract widlife, squirrels, an owl and a family of mice.

PS Re your parents. Of course there is no reason to link old age to dementia even if the risk might increase. The risk of everything increases of course.

If you wanted to do a few veggies, you could construct a small raised bed garden. You could also do a hydroponics (sp) garden - though I always thought that was way to sanitary to be fun :-)
