I mowed the back acre yesterday and took the camera with me.  Yes, I live in Redneck heaven - and I LIKE IT :-)

Here is a picture looking back towards the other property behind me - you can see the fence and trailers back there.  If they ever sold that land, I would consider buying it (with my good looks and charm).

Here is another picture of the opposite direction looking back towards my house

This thing is on my neighbors property.  I am very curious what it is (looks like a giant Miracle Bra), but I never ask.  I prefer to think up wild possiblities (most of them involve the CIA or Barnam & Baily Circus).

My riding mower has a crooked deck, so I usually create what I refer to as crop circles (something that annoys one of my neighbors very much). In an attempt to be less random.... I tried to create a grid this time (semi-successful) ....

The mini-vacation went okay, if not as planned.  It rained most of it, so the garden work went out the window.

I did one task on Sierra's gown at least, but most of my time was spent on the quilt.

Monday Bea and I went shopping at the Forum.  World Market had soda from Waialua - I didn't even know Waialua had a soda company.....

I found the Spotted Dick, and like a couple of immature 12 year olds Bea and I couldn't stop laughing.  This is her with the can (I deleted the one of her licking her lips...).   I even forgot to put in in my cart (I was going to try it since it was something I'd never had before..... haha, jeez! - I'm still laughing about it - how sad that I'm so immature.

I dropped Bea off and stopped by Walmart to pick up a couple of grocery things (didn't check for Spotted Dick).  I did find some awesome organic Champagne grapes though - Yum. They are so tiny - almost like they came from liliputtin. Can't afford it, but I bought a package anyway.

Also......
* One tree trimmer came to give estimate for the two trees in question:  $900 plus tax.
*  I watched Hot Fuzz (not so hot)
*  Neighbor pretty much fixed my mower, and was able to mow the back area before the rains came.

Not much of a Mother's day since my kiddo isn't here, but I managed to entertain myself.

Riding mower still on the blink.  Asked a friend if her hubby would help teach me how to clean out the carberetor, but they were MIA.  I dropped by their house to bring them some veggies from the garden.  He said he'd come by Tuesday.

I had mowing on the agenda, so I got out the electric mower to do the job.  It took a long time (the mower cutting width is 18"), but I got everything but the back pasture cut! The 100 foot cord plus about 12 feet thanks to two power strips was enough to just get the job done (by the skin of my teeth).  They say don't go over 100ft extension cord, but I just needed a smidgen more.....  I wouldn't want to mow this way all the time, but It's good to know the electric mower will work in a pinch.

I ate fresh organic cucumbers for lunch.  First ones of the year, and they were good!.  From now until about t July I should have plenty for me and all friends. After that it'll probably be too hot for the blooms to stay on.  I'll plant again middle part of August for fall cukes.

Started watching What the Bleep Down the Rabbit Hole.  So far seems simply a re-hash of the original (the dramatic sections are even copies of original..... guess they were on a budget).  I liked the interviews on the flip of disc 1.  I'm on disc 2 now which seems pretty much the same stuff as disk 1............I'm confused.
I'm a huge Alan Watts fan, and the ideas in these shows isn't new to me.  I like hearing all sides and all ideas - very exciting stuff to ponder.
Speaking of Watts; I received the CD I ordered from Amazon - will begin listening to it soon.

Attempted to mow back property today.  My talking to the mower didn't work - would not run without choke out.  Need to get in there and clean the carburetor up.  Invited my friend to bring her husband by over the weekend to help me figure it out.  Offered her free vegetables in return.

Put together Porch swing all by myself - I amaze myself.  It's awesome.  It's facing the garden, and the canopy creates some nice shade.  I brought out an old pillow and quilt to throw on it to cozy it up even more.  I layed on it for over an hour reading from James Herriot's Dog Stories until I finally got up to get myself over to the dentist in San Antonio.

Dentist appointment went okay.  They didn't do the new filling just patched the crack.  Saved me money and I didn't have to get a shot of novOcaine.  After dentist I stopped by Michaels Craft superstore and got a Mosaic stepping stone kit and a desk-pillow I can use to write when I'm out on the swing.  I also got 4 tee-shirts for $10 - can't beat that.

Spoke with Zoe in the evening.  Dad is going in for his surgery on the 17th.  She seems concerned.  Dad is a tough guy, but he isn't a spring chicken - and the surgery isn't minor - - so will send out positive vibes in his direction.

Spent the day outside trimming trees and working in the garden.  Threatened to rain all day, but it never happened.

I opened up the riding mower to see if I could figure out where the carburater was.  I guess when I squeezed and tapped on things whatever was causing it to not run without the choke out got fixed because I was able to start and run it without the choke.  Maybe it was just me talking nicely to it that worked..... :-)

Drove to San Marcos Lowes to buy the swing/hammock that was on sale for $99.  It wasn't a necessity, but I've been wanting one and I have no place to sit comfortably out in the garden.  I think I'll get my money's worth once I actually get it put together........

Still no call from the camera repair people.  Was hoping it would be ready tomorrow so I could pick it up while I was down in San Antonio at the dentist.

Today is Cinco De Mayo, yet there is nothing going on it town to celebrate.  I don't want to drive to San Antonio and deal with all the traffic, so I'll pass altogether.  I suppose the bars will be celebrating (any excuse to party....haha).  I wish I still drank.....  No I don't.

Gas went down a penny today at the corner pump.  I guess down is better than up.

I bought an electric mower last week   I still have the riding mower for the main property, but I needed something for the backyard.  I'd been using the push reel mower (Beaver Cleaver Style), and that's fun and exercize, but if the grass gets too long forget about it.
I didn't want another smelly polluting gas mower, so I decided to chance it.  If it didn't  cut or was too wimpy I could bring it back to the store.  I got the Black & Decker 6.5 AMP 18" mower, and it rocked.  What fun (once I figured out how to maneuver the cord).  Good purchase.
