I finally worked out the issue I had with my ipod not synching with my new computer using my proven method of
trying everything and seeing if any of it works

Unfortunately, in the process I lost EVERYTHING on my iPod.  Granted - the music I'd managed to transfer back to my new computer (with the help of ipod to PC software) and the apps I can download again at no charge, however, I lost all my notes and contact data - the notes are just lost - the contact data I'll have to work on inputing again (all 87 of them - so some folks will be getting emails from me) :-)

If YOU would like to be in my contacts - drop me a private message with your stats.  :-)

Edit:  I now have my original contacts! - Seems as though the ipod pulled them from my yahoo address book that I've been synching with.  Yay!!

I am jazzed - this is the first new computer I've had since 2003.
I've never owned a laptop before, but I'm willing to adjust - it's very sexy :-)

* Because someone gave back that day - I was able to get Memorial day off as a vacation day - which means I have off from Saturday at 12:30 through Wednesday night.  Yay.

*  Boody mama hatched a baby - it is so very cute.  Once I get my new computer I'll post pics.

*  I've narrowed down the computer choices to the Gateway NV7915U or the Asus K60I-RBBBR05.  The Best Buy I'm going to has them both in stock (or so they say) - so my final decision will come once I touch them.  They are only $50 apart in price, so I'm really looking at professional reviews and features.

I've done some thinking, and I decided that I am
1.) Going to buy a new computer - it's time for an upgrade and the repairs on the exisiting one keeps dinging us.
2.) Going to go with a PC again (Macs are just too pricey for my budget right now)
3.) Going to go with a Laptop for portability mostly.

I just wnat a computer that will let me enjoy all that the internet has to offer (movies, downloads, speed) and that will let me burn CD's, upload using my usb cable, and let me unput usihng my SD card.  99% of my computer usage is internet, iTunes, Hulu.com.

I don't have the extra cash, so I want to get a "no interest" deal from a seller.

Best Buy has a 18 month no interest offer going on right now, and I found two computers that I thought might work for me.

Which one do you think is the better deal?
Do you think the Gateway model is worth the $100 more?
Is a larger screen that much more desirable?
If I am using my computer almost always at home - does the battery life mean so much? (gateway model doesn't have such good battery life)
etc,

It seems as though BEST BUY won't let me post the pages of the computers - I tried everything but just get "page not found" when I try to link.  Here are the CNET reviews of each computer

Any guidance greatly appreciated.
It's silly how much this is stressing me out.

I'll post first because I'm positive that, by the time I finish reading my friendslist there won't be time to do a post.

Update (highlights)

My computer is dead AGAIN!  Grrr....  Black screen with curser this time - then when I push it gives me a cannot read disk error.  I picked the brain of the Geek squad rep at Best Buy - he said - buy a new one.  So, I'm puterless until that happens - which is okay, I have wifi on my Touch at home - and I have internet access at work.  That'll get me through until I find something I can afford that doesn't suck too bad. :-)

My mom is here.  She arrived Wednesday night while I was in Corpus Christi.  I came home early (Thursday) so I could spend time with her.  First thing we did was go go the garden and harvest blackberries and taters :-)

*  Canyon trip went smoothly.  Michael graduated West Texas A&M.  Unfortunately most of the pictures came out too dark because I had to use a cheapo disposible camera (the batteries on my digital refused to charge - turns out the cells were bad)

*  Houston trip went smoothly, but we didn't do anything I planned.  Still - we had a good time, and we got to see Tom ([livejournal.com profile] texasts ) for lunch!

(photo stolen from Tom's Journal)

*  Yesterday Marcel and I celebrated our first anniversary.  We are giddy :-)

* I'm fully into blackberry season - unbelievable how many berries there are - I'm happy.  Everything else in the garden rocks too.  I'm blessed.

EDIT:  EMERGENCY OVER - MEDIA BACK  seems it was fully extended in restore mode and pushed ALLLL the way over to the right.  Don't know how that happened, but I'm glad I have it back.

Tearing my hair out.
Windows Media player is hidden and I can't make it come up.
The bar is in the bottom toolbar, but when I click on it looks like it's jetting to the right side of the monitor out of sight.
It is working because when I click a music file it plays - I just can't see where it is.
I've tried everything!
Argh!
