I went to Central Market in San Antonio on Sunday.  Here are thoughts:
* I liked learning to find another place.
* They had too much wine - I thought I was in a liquor store for a minute there.
* They sold cigarettes at near the checkout - gag.
*  Produce dept rocked, but it was pricey (even for non-organic stuff).
*  Bulk section was very good - but, again - pricey.
*  Vitamin / Personal care section was huge - lots of fun.  (they were out of Bach Wild Oat remedy and a couple more though)
*  There were many things I can't find other places - most notably rice bran in the bulk section; however, they didn't have rice grits which I'd seen at an HEB somewhere else.

I bought about 6 different kinds of flour (spelt, rice, buckwheat, and more), I got rice bran to make Japanese fermented pickles, Bach Mimulus remedy (gonna to a post on this at a later date), a couple of bottles of asian seasoning, organic honeysweet apples, a container of Gensoy protein powder that was on sale, and a pkg of multi-grain tortillas they made on site.

Oh yeah, I also got a pistachio cannoli and an espresso brownie - they were delicious.

I will return, but not very often.  This type of grocery store isn't for someone on my budget sadly.

The mini-vacation went okay, if not as planned.  It rained most of it, so the garden work went out the window.

I did one task on Sierra's gown at least, but most of my time was spent on the quilt.

Monday Bea and I went shopping at the Forum.  World Market had soda from Waialua - I didn't even know Waialua had a soda company.....

I found the Spotted Dick, and like a couple of immature 12 year olds Bea and I couldn't stop laughing.  This is her with the can (I deleted the one of her licking her lips...).   I even forgot to put in in my cart (I was going to try it since it was something I'd never had before..... haha, jeez! - I'm still laughing about it - how sad that I'm so immature.

I dropped Bea off and stopped by Walmart to pick up a couple of grocery things (didn't check for Spotted Dick).  I did find some awesome organic Champagne grapes though - Yum. They are so tiny - almost like they came from liliputtin. Can't afford it, but I bought a package anyway.

Also......
* One tree trimmer came to give estimate for the two trees in question:  $900 plus tax.
*  I watched Hot Fuzz (not so hot)
*  Neighbor pretty much fixed my mower, and was able to mow the back area before the rains came.

Today I went to the Farmer's Market off of 1604.   There were two whole booths there.......  I asked a lot of questions about selling.  I'd like to participate in the future (once I get the garden down to a science.... haha).

Today Bea and I hit the road with "no particular place to go".  I had in my mind Busseys and a fabric store, but was open to all possibilities.

We started off by grabbing a soda at the corner station then headed south towards San Antonio.  I mentioned GardenRidge, but it was too early to get in there anyway (9am).  I decided to go ahead and look for a fabric store.  I'd forgotten to bring the maps to Joann's and Hancock Fabric (which I'd put on the table RIGHT NEXT TO the door) - but I'd remembered it was on San Pedro somewhere.  I thought San Pedro ran along 281 so that's where I went.  We got half way down and hadn't seen any street sign saying San Pedro, so we stopped into Starbucks to ask.  It was, indeed San Pedro, and lo and behold Joann's could be found just across the highway!.

Joann's wasn't open yet, so we checked out Walgreens while we waited.

Joann's had a 70% off sale on all summer decor items.  I got three smallish ceramic wind chimes, a novelty sign (Love Grows), and a carrot sign.  I'll post pics later.  They were also having a super sale on Simplicity Patterns, so I picked up four at $1.99 each!! (actually the sale ended the day before, but because the sign was still posted - the clerk let me have it at the sale price - yay).

By the time we were done at Joann's we were hungry, so I drove down San Pedro to Souper Salad.  We also stopped into Goodwill and Rooms To Go since they were right there.

Then.... we jumped on 281 south and went to the Quarry to Wholefoods.  I picked up a few groceries, and we headed home after grabbing a soda for the road.

Long day!  Next week we thought we might actually go to the Swap meet and maybe the Farmer's Market.

Here are pics of the patterns I got.....

#7655  I got this so I could have a simple pattern to make the skirts I like to wear.

#4050  I am so jazzed I got this for $1.99.  I don't know when I'll make it, but I definately want to do it with two contrasting fabrics.

# 3697 This is a great top!  I like how there are two bodice options.  I want to make Sierra a good blouse with this pattern.  I'm going to do it in black.  If she likes it I'll make her more - maybe even with contrasting fabrics if she'd like that (hard to tell with that kid..... if I did it with skull & crossbone fabric...she'd like that haha)

I got one more that I'll write about next time.
