Saturday I visited a chicken friend a friend who has chickens to pick up some old gates her husband was going to burn.  They will come in handy when I build the new coop this winter.  I'll have to replace some of the wood but that's okay - I can use the old wood as a template.

While there she showed me a cool way to weatherproof coop windows for the winter

Plexiglass and those turny thingies - so siimple!! Now I don't have to worry about making more venilation windows so the birds can stay cool in the summer heat.

Carla lives in the "hills" outside San Marcos.  You drive past Bobcat Stadium on the way.  This is where Sierra graduated.

I stopped at Sam's on the way home.  I got eggs, bread (first time in a long time to get store bought bread0, a goat cheese log, and a printer.  Funny thing about the printer - I paid $49.99 for it.  The replacement ink is $58.60.......  I can't really afford a printer, but I am motivated to get to work on a business plan for my new venture!

They had Pluots there, but I didn't buy any.  They were $1.9something a pound.  Maybe next year my Pluot trees will fruit - maybe the year after that.  I'm looking forward to it!!

Your chickens don't lay eggs yet?

Approximately 58 more days - I have one of those countdown widgets on my profile page - I really need to get off my boof and get the nest boxes made.

Did you put in the new gate yet?

I got my car windows tinted, went grocery shopping and watched every episode of Journeyman this weekend.

I can't believe that show got canceled!

Ah man - they canceled it?? I thought it was just between seasons. I liked that show - stupid shows like My Name is Earl stay on and good stuff like this get canceled. Don't mind me - I'm still pissed from when they canceled The Paper Chase.

They looked like plums!

I looked them up, and they are a cross between plums and apricots. What next?

Do you trouble with fruit fly over there?

We have them, but it's pretty easy to control. Where I'm from (Hawaii) - it's a different story.. very hard to control.

How do you control them?

We have a devil of a job controlling them here.

You can make a trap. Here is an article that explains one way - there are several.

I love your photo post! Yay :) I love seeing what people buy! I agree on the stupidity with Printers - mine cost me about £24 to buy, yet the ink costs me £32! Why is that I wonder? A little pot of ink can be so expensive, yet the printer which is larger, has electrical components and lot's of plastic, is so cheap? Weird!

I found lots of ink for the model available online for much less, but I wonder about the quality. Also, there is an ink refiller shop in my town - not sure what that's about, but I guess I'm going to need to check it out! :)

The carton of eggs made me smile - soon you will have your own gorgeous ones!

BTW - how did the eat everything in the pantry first project work out? Did I miss your wrap on that subject? You had some wonderful creative stuff going on there.

I think I forgot to post a wrap on that. I cleared out most everything that was hanging out doing nothing. It's hard when it's just one person - easy to end up with too much since most sizes are geared for a family. I'm getting better at buying. I'd like to organize an informal group buying club because several of my work friends are single too.

That's an excellent idea - hey, this morning I finished a carton of eggs and was looking at the paper carton - would you like me to save a few for you and mail them to you for egg distribution in the future?

Thanks! for the offer; however, it's not necessary. I've been saving mine for the past year!! hahaha. These would be for my use. I have to buy new for any customers per regulations, but I'm looking into the "legality" of them bringing theirs to me and me refilling them.

My husband works for HP...they sell the printers relatively cheap and make their money by selling the ink. I do agree that ink is expensive! Sometimes ink is cheaper at Sam's Club, Costco or ebay.

I think it's cool you have a pluot tree! :)

I understand the business stadegy behind this, but environmentally it sucks. So much more plastic and metal sitting in landfills than needs to be. The $58 price was at Sam's Club - I'm going to compare pricing at other vendors and see what they're asking. The print quality is great though - I like the printer.
