Random Update
Jul. 14th, 2009 05:28 pm* I'm working 9-6:30pm today so I can drive down to be with Marcel tonight and tomorrow (I'll go home Thursday morning). He's been so busy - I want to do the driving more often; gives him more time to get stuff done. For the second time the sale of the restaurant is postponed. I'm wondering if it isn't the universe hinting that we should not sell it.
* I planted yard-long beans .... it's early, but I need to have SOMETHING growing in the garden

* I've begun the task of digging grape vine beds. All total there will be 6 beds. It seems as simple as digging a deep hole; however, this is Texas..... land of clay and rock. Soaking the ground the night before helps a little, but it's still a lot of exercise. Can't wait to have my little Muscadine vinyard though! :-)

* I was harvesting Figs and came across this fellow hanging out. I don't even know what it is - he didn't seem to be bothering anything, so I didn't grab him and feed him to the chickens.... ;-)

Date: 2009-07-15 04:05 pm (UTC)Marcel needs to change; he wants to open another chapter in his life. He's been tied to the restaurant virtually 24/7 since 1989.

Date: 2009-07-15 09:11 am (UTC)Digging your dirt would be HARD work! Yard long beans - great! And hopefully they are tough enough to withstand the temperatures.
Hmmm...on the restaurant thing. I know you love cooking, and I can see you could be involved somehow...but not quite how!

Date: 2009-07-15 06:24 pm (UTC)Get one of those shovels called a ditch digger. They are narrow and a little long, so it is easier to get it deep into this lovely Texas earth.
I've buried two dogs in hard, hard soil, and I can tell you, it was much easier with the ditch digger. Well worth the money!
