(no subject)

* I went to my quarterly dental cleaning in San Antonio today (or so I thought).  I got there and my hygienist said they didn't schedule me for enough time - so she can't do it.  Argh!!  I re-scheduled for the Tuesday after next.  Not a happy camper, but it's not like I traveled to Austin and paid for parking.....

* I did make the trip kind of worth it by doing my quarterly Sun Harvest Farms shopping.  I always come away with sticker shock, but I do get lots of stuff I can't get in New Braunfels: Ecover products (I use the dish soap and laundry detergent), Hemp Protein powder, nuts (raw almonds were on sale), grains (oats, red lentils), and bread baking stuff (vital wheat gluten, rice & rye flour - they had organic stone ground whole wheat flour for $1.99 a pound!!!  This is another justification for buying a grain mill damnit).

* I got gasoline in San Antonio today - $3.59 a gallon which is 10 cents a gallon cheaper than New Braunfels.  Why didn't anyone put the cents symbol on the keyboard?

* Some people who have been with my journal a long time might remember when I began my experiment with the Bach Remedies Mimulus and Wild Oat.  I'd had good luck with the Rescue Remedy in the past - so I thought I'd give it a go.  I think Mimulus might have had some effect on me - the Wild Oat, not so much that I noticed....though I could be wrong.  I am done with both bottles, and decided I'd move on to something else - so while at Sun Harvest, picked up the Bach Remedy Larch.  Larch is supposed to help instill a sense of self-esteem when you feel inferior, fear failure, or lack self-confidence.  I know all of you are probably wondering why in the world I would choose that one..... :-)

*  I'm converting my 300 cd collection to digital.  Has anyone done this?  How do you keep your files?  I was planning on keeping them on my pc, but I'd just started and I'd accumulated over 10 gigabytes of files.  My pc hard drive is 50gb and 30 of that is free - so no way all my music would fit.  Right now I'm transferring the files to data cd's until I can figure out how to do it.  My plan was to have a big jukebox on the hard-drive - but doesn't look like that's going to happen.

* Tonight the season finale of American Idol begins.  Looking forward to the performances.  It could be anyone's guess.  www.votefortheworst.com is telling their following to vote for David Archuletta which kind of surprises me.  I would have thought he would be the favorite.  I've been a David Cook fan most of the season, but I always vote depending on the individual shows performances.  I loved Archuletta the most when he sang Angel - gave me goosebumps.  Tomorrow's results show is 2 hours, but I think it's 7-9 not 8-10 so I won't get to see it live. Anyway - in 2 separate posts I'm going to put up my favorite performances from each. They are both pretty talented.

Do you live in N.B.? If so I can give you the name of an extremely good dentist. Until I moved too far I use to go out of my way to go to him. Their hygenist is fantastic too.

I have been to several dentists and he is the best I have ever had.

Cool. My hygenist is a perio specialist, but most really good ones can do a good perio cleaning. I'd love to find someone really good close by. I wish periodontists were easy to find. Luckily I take super good care of my mouth, so I only usually have to deal with my hygenist :-)

His hygenist does deep scale and all that.

hey let me know next time you are coming into town! We can meet up for lunch or something...

I'll be there next Tuesday :-)
My appointment is for 2:30pm, so maybe we could get some lunch. Do you work close to that "Green" (http://www.greensanantonio.com/) restaurant? I've been wanting to check it out since it was just a rumor that took over a year to manifest. Or wherever :-)

Um...I'd have put up a fight. If they didn't schedule enough time...too damn bad. MAKE time. They should know how long their procedures take. That's completely unprofessional and rude as hell to make you leave and come back later because of their mistake. If you had shown up late they'd probably have given you no end of flack about it too.

I had a very close friend who was really into the Bach flower essences. I never could get into it but she swore by them.

Yeah, I kind of agree. The receptionist scheduled me for an "inspection" (which is basically just seeing where my condition is at) when it was supposed to be a cleaning. I've never once actually SCHEDULED an inspection - it always happens before or after a cleaning, which is why I think someone just screwed up and didn't schedule enough time. My hygenist always does a 1 hour appointment - the receptionist scheduled only 15 minutes. Ah well, me making a scene would cause them bad feelings and inconvenience the people waiting - so this way only I am a little put out instead of a lot of people :-)

I would have been surprised & pissed off & let them know how irresponsible it was and how many miles I'd driven, etc while communicating in an nice way..... shit does happen and then probably would have gone to nurseries and found some great things to plant and love :-> HAHA make myself feel better. fun that you went shopping for good food stuff.

I've taken the same remedies for months.. they're very subtle and one day you just realize things have shifted. It does take some time.. several bottles sometimes. You do make dosing bottles out of the stock bottle, right. Each stock bottle you buy goes a long way if you mix them down.

I'm embarrassed to say I have an external hard drive I ADDED for my music that's about full and it's 80 GB.. I'll need another one soon. I have a lot of music. I just kept my CDs around the studio and places when I might not be by my 'puter. never converted them to digital.

edited for spelling :-)

Yes, this was my experience with Mimulus. I am an anxious mess over money - irrationally so. Even when I had it made financially I still scrimped/pinched pennies, worried, etc. etc. This is making over 70k a year and having most of your bills paid for - no worries, except for what I created :-)

You can imagine what happened when I left this cushy existence and went to a place where I had no job, no health insurance, a mortgage and truck payment, a teenager, and just enough savings just to get me over the relocation hump. I honestly thought I was going to have a nervous breakdown - seriously. It was a lot of deep breathing and little tweaks I did to bring myself around - and it took about 2 years to do it. One of those things was Rescue Remedy - then in October of last year Mimulus. I really think the Mimulus helped me. The Wild Oat - not so sure yet because what it's good for is so subjective. I definitely feel like I'm in the right direction (though maybe not the right "location" which is something I'm wrestling with a little). So anyway - yeah... :-)

wow, you have really gone through some major changes... no wonder you've been feeling anxiety. Sometimes we just have fears and worries that are unfounded but feel very real... then a huge change takes place and we look back and wonder WHY was I so stressed THEN?? Then a serious health or other major even takes place and we wonder why was I stressed BEFORE?

We are such strange creatures and how our minds plague us is remarkable. I loved Alan Watts and "The Book" was a major wake-up book for me in my 20-'s.

I think you may enjoy one of my major teachers. I have tons of downloads but he also has a website with tons of freebies to listen to and watch. From the first time I heard him I got a very clear resonance from his words and lots of laughs, too.. He's a young American guy (another major teacher in this life was in India. I lived at his ashram for awhile & he used an interpreter... nice to have a teacher who speaks the same language)who we were with in December & truthfully, my life hasn't been the same since.. kinda nuts but good.

Didn't schedule enough time? What does that mean? If it takes a set amount of time to do the task, what else could they possibly schedule?

$3.59 is bargin here.
