Apr. 7th, 2008 01:22 pmI saw 30 DAYS OF NIGHTS Friday night. I was expected it to be another teenage vampire scare flick, but I was "pleasantly" surprised. It was pretty scary and creepy in the good kind of way. The vampires were truly believable and terrifying. I was thrilled :-)
I decided to give in and name the rooster ROO I can't help but calling him that, so I give up.
He's demonstrating his rooster qualities now.
He is protective and a leader (sometimes in a not good way - teaching the pullets to jump over the guard of the brooder etc.).
When a pullet gets lost and cries he is the one who goes and tries to help (but it's me who ends up picking her up and putting her back in the brooder....haha).
He seems to be kind of nurturing (though I may be just imagining it). I threw some oatmeal down to coax them over to the far side of the playpen. Everyone ignored it but him. He creepd up to check it out. Once he tasted the oats (they LOVE oats) he didn't get a good bellyfull before he told everyone about it. He immediately called to the pullets to come and get it (they do a purr/peep sounding call they use to communicate to the others their pleasure). I found that really unselfish.

I got a little more done on the coop. I filled in the trenches the fence sinks into and I finsihed the door (okay, it's ghetto - but it's predator proof. Later I'll try and make it nicer).
