I was able to work on the coop this weekend.  Including getting the base coat painted!  I bought the color coat, but I had to do some caulking - and it needed time to cure.  I'll paint and finish the fence (except the gate) Tuesday.

Fencing and perch supplies.

Filling in the gaps to make sure there will be no drafts.  I used that aerosol stuff.  Never ever buy that stuff - it's a mess.  I should have used outdoor caulking - live and learn.

Drawing cutting lines for making the doo hickeys the perches will rest on.  I have no clue what I'm doing.......

Fitting the perches into the perch-resting-places.

Here the finished perches for the upper level.  Looks funny because the floor isn't there.

I finally got all the T-posts hammered in just before sunset Sunday (with a giant sledge hammer - my shoulders are still aching).  My neighbor offered to loan me his post driver, but by that time I was almost done anyway.  At first I thought he was trying to help me out - then I realized he was probably just sick of hearing the clank, clank, clank echoing throughout the area.

Tuesday I will dedicate myself to getting up the fencing and painting  the coop with the top coat.
After that it will be putting in a gate and figuring out how to put in roofing.

This is why I'd canceled the order. I wasn't up to all the work. Now there isn't a choice - do it or live with chickens in my bedroom.... :-)

Well, you could keep them in your bedroom. You could tell people you have found the perfect way to "feather" your nest. I know.......bad joke ;)

Wow...I could never do something like that. I'd have to enlist a male-type. That's amazing.

Hahaha - thanks :-)
I am really excited about getting them into it. I want to see how they fill it out. I may need to enlarge the yard, and I have the space to do it.
