My neighbor's daugher is now old enough to hang with.  She was barely a toddler when I moved here.  She plays in the back yard or works in the shop with her father during the time I garden.  We gradually began to converse across the fence - and one day I asked her if she wanted to come over and help me in the garden...... from then on, if she is outside when I'm in the garden she comes over.  I have to remind her to ask her parents first.  She's no trouble, and she usually doesn't stay to long - so it's all good.  I can never remember her name, so I just always say something like "howz it going buddy!"  :-)

This is currently my Windows Wallpaper :-)

It was 75F that day. Like everywhere else - the temps have been up and down like crazy!

Thank you! I try and improve it continually. Winter is the best time to garden - no bugs!

That must be great. Can't do much gardening here in winter. I've dreamed of having a long growing season. What happens to tomato plants? Do they just keep growing?

Tomatoes won't grow here in the winter - they die with the first light frost.

In Hawaii and tropical climates indeterminate they will grow and produce until they are killed by disease or bugs.

Are there any perenial vegetables that will survive year round down there?

Not that I'm aware of. It's all seasonal.

Here in Texas....

Late Spring & Summer
Beans, Tomatoes, Melons, Cukes, Corn, Okra, Peppers, Sweet Potatoes

Indian Summer Above except no melons or sweet potatoes

Winter and super early spring (nothing cool can be planted after Feb 15)
Lettuce, Kale, Collards, Spinach, Peas, Carrots, Radishes, Beets, Turnips, Irish Potatoes, etc.

My parsley behaves like a perrenial and grows 12 months out of the year if I keep it watered and partly shaded in August.

Wow, would I love my back yard to look like that right now; instead of covered with snow. *jealous*
