I posted this on Facebook, but I wanted to share it here (and have it in my blog for posterity) :-)

I've moved Cleo over to the flock.  We're testing it out to see if it takes.  If not, she'll come back to me and we'll work it out.  We'll probably create a shelter just for her in the back pasture.  I'm hoping it works out though - she should be with her own kind - not my pet. :-)

I love how she rubs herself on you. You have been a very kind human, providing some company for her as she grows up. I hope she takes to the flock and the flock takes to her. But you are also a very kind human to take her in if they don't. And just think of the possibilities of spinning and knitting or weaving her wool!

Wool! :)

What a great thought.

Thank you :-) The flock is pretty much ignoring her right now, and she the same. I'm feeding her though the fence - and I'll give it a couple of weeks. She doesn't have wool since she's a hair sheep breed, but if we set up the back pasture for her she can be a good fertilizer and lawn mower :-)

Awww....no wool! And she's such a pretty colour.

I echo Sahlah - we miss you over here. No guilt trips, though, I know you are very busy.

Wonderful to see you

Hope Cleo has good luck fitting in and making new friends.
That is one handsome rooster in your video!

That's Roo - he's a Delaware. He's the old man - my first rooster. He is a cranky-pants, but he takes good care of the flock :-)

As long as he doesn't behave like the game cocks I've seen down south, he can't be all that bad can he?

He shows aggression to perfectly reasonable stimuli. I understand this, but people who don't understand chickens are intimidated by him. When he does it to me I just scoop him up and hug him :-)

I understand.
We had a favorite park we used to walk in that had several types of geese in it.
One type was very tall and carried themselves with the bill almost straight up in the air. They were also noisy and intimidating to most every one. They dearly loved to huff and puff at the folks who arrived bearing bread to feed them--many of whom would drop the bread and run!
I stood my ground one day as they rushed me and then very gently took the bread from my hands. They always did this but they never actually attacked me.

Hehehe - very cute - I very, very much needed the smile. Thanks so much for posting this.

I have heard that these sheep are not very tame and not terribly fond of human interaction, but that doesn't seem like Cleo!

And I'm not a shoe person - but those shoes are cute. What are they?

They are Crocs. I got them at the outlet store in San Marcos for $3.00 a couple of years ago. I have a different pair in green I got for the same price. Love 'em!
