April in the Garden: Pictures (2 of 2)

Fig tree is ready for another year - Marcel pruned it this winter, so it's looking better "kept" this spring


Slow progress on the new chicken compound.  I got posts in and started the fence.  So many projects.....so little time.


The sheep next door come begging whenever I'm outside.  I always throw over weeds and stuff for them.


One of the five Muscadine vines we planted in the winter. 


Time to Mow! (this is the back part of the property)


Murphey's Law says that you will run out of gas when you are the FURTHEST away from the garden shed.....
(this happens more times than not)


It gave me a chance to take pictures of some wildflowers on my walk back with the gas can though



Here's a pic of the birdhouse with the house and blackberries in the background.  The berry vines are loaded - I hope they all ripen!

It's more like a mini pasture, but I think it looks bigger here than it actually is. The whole property is 1.66 acres - that part maybe half of that.

Is that compost near the sheep? And do you know what sort of sheep? Ha, ha, their grass looks a lot shorter than yours for some funny reason :)

I do hope your berries ripen and are not taken by birds or something. And I hope you get figs!

Yes, that's one of four bins! Between what Marcel brings from the restaurant - and garden refuse we are able to process lots of compost.

I've never had much trouble with the birds for some reason. They will take bites out of my tomatoes - and eat a few figs, but that's about it. The real challenge is making sure the chickens don't get to the berries! (or the tomatoes....) :-)

AMAZING!!! It looks so beautiful! Your fig is making my heart go pitty pat! Maybe I'll get one I can eat this year since I planted it in the ground in the greenhouse finally! It's only 3 feet tall... haha...

Wow I never realised you had such a big yard. Do you mow around the wild flowers?

Unfortunately those get mowed - there aren't too many in the back pasture. If I waited to mow, the weeds would be as tall as me - and it would be too hard for the riding mower to run. In the front property I let the wild flowers grow and go to seed.
