23F this morning when I woke up. OMG.....

Looks like the winter stuff in the garden fared pretty well.

Frost on the groundcover.

Had to call some of the chickens to get them to come outside.

Broke the ice so they could drink

Chickens were not especially enthusiastic about the brisk weather....

Three chickens went back inside after I fed them......hahaha

There is frost here too. I had to laugh because the neighbor's car was half in the shade and half in sunlight. The car had a straight line of frost on one side and clean on the other.

It's times like these that make me greatful I am not homeless. I can't imagine being on the streets in such weather.

Freezing weather is very rare here in my part of Texas. We may get a months worth of below 50F weather max. Thank goodness!

Brrr. Sounds like you could be living up here in Canada. It snowed a bit today. Hopeing the foxes who visit my backyard still come around tonight. Peace.

Eeew! I would not like your weather. It reminds me of when I had to break the ice for my mother's goat in the morning.

Look at that frost! Erk!

And lol to the chickens not wanting to come out, and going back inside. I think I would, too.

Just the Rooster - the oh so unique name "Roo" :-)

While I treat them like pets - they are supposed to be "farm animals" which is why I hesitated to name them.

They aren't young, so I don't think they'd taste very good - maybe for stew. Someday we will butcher them, and we'll do it with as little trauma to them as possible. They used to be good layers - lately (due to age/winter) not so much. They earn their keep in keeping everything fertilized though... ;-)

Roo is a typical rooster. He tolerates me because, if he doesn't, I chase him like Weslie Snipes did to that little old ladie in "To Wong Foo Thanks for Everything Julie Newmar" - I run run run singing "I'm a gonna git'cha....I'm gonna git'cha" - then I grab him and hug him and carry him around until I've had enough. Very humiliating for him.... so he behaves himself.

That paints a real picture

lol

so funny

the reason I asked about eating them is because of the names. I think it would be harder to eat one I'd named
