Wednesday/Thursday AM Recap
Jun. 18th, 2009 03:25 pmVisited my new friends Karin & Dieter in Port Aransas.
I found my friend Karin by luck while putting in a string of words into Google. I do this sometimes at work when I have free time and want to have an adventure. I don't remember all the words - they were fairly random. Her personal website came up - and I becamse fascinated with her and her husbands Gypsy lifestyle. They are VERY VERY cool peeps!! :-)

Marcel and I walked on the Beach (as usual).
Too many pictures to post, and I can't make a slideshow at work - so here is one picture, and I'll post a slideshow tonight after work or tomorrow.

On the way home I had a blowout on my rear tire

I was driving back home about an hour into the trip and I notice the truck vibrating a little. I am thinking to myself something is wrong, but I didn't stop - I figured maybe the alignment was off. Then BAM!! the tire blows. Thank goodness my truck rocks - because it just slowed down and I edged off the road - no drama. The explosion blew off the plastic side fender thingie - and that was the only damage to the truck (aside from the tire of course). I didn't know what exit I was near, so I called Marcel for moral support. He was going to drop what he was doing to come out - but as we were discussing it (he had way too many things to do that morning to be driving out to help me - but I love him for offering) - a State Trooper (thank you Trooper Hinojosa!) drove up and offered to help. I had a spare, but I didn't have the tools needed to change the tire - so he contacted a wrecker to tow me to a tire shop. Bill was $175 ($94 of it towing) - which was a total rip-off IMO, but I'm grateful because
1.) it TOTALLY could have been worse
2.) I got to see a State Trooper do something other than pull someone over for speeding :-)
3.) The tire guy said my tires are supposed to have 40 PSI in them and I've been keeping 26 PSI because that is what it says on the door of my truck from the factory (he said - no way no how should it be that low - and to trust him on that).
Anyway - good "weekend" with my honey who I already miss. ;-)

The tow is money well spent. You didn't have the tools to do it sooooooo... But get the dang tools into the truck!
Have I told you lately that I love you? Your sunny optimism continually puts me back on the right track.
Thanks for being you! I am so glad we met here and In Real Life!

Jack & I lasted a little while with the long distance deal. It will be fun to see how long it takes you guys to figure it out. hahaha
