dalthauser: (Earth Has Chocolate)

This morning I sent My German an Easter package.  It had Easter "grass" and in it little gifts wrapped in pastel tissue papers.  Several types of Altoids (he likes them), a few bars of German Chocolate, a beanie easter bunny mini, and a card.  To fill out the box I also included a stash of herbal green teas (what person has never had Green tea before?? - especially a foodie.....sad sad) - and some random magazines.  Package cost $13.50 to mail.  That's expensive, but his surprise at getting it will be worth it.  I hope he doesn't think it's too lame.

Two evenings and one day a week is not enough.
We want more - we're trying to find a way.  It's going to be complicated.......  the wheels are turning though.

Wednesday we made Iraqi inspired food.  Kasha pilaf, Chicken in fig sauce, Flat Bread, Cucumber Yogurt dip (for the flat bread).
Marcel and I prepped together, but he was in charge of the chicken - and I was in charge of the kasha, flat bread, and cucumber dip.

He taught me - don't peel cucumbers from stem end up - peel them from top end down to the stem.  He says that the stem end is bitter, and when you peel up you spread the bitterness.  I've never heard this before, but I will take his word for it.
(he also told me he thought my daughter is capable of making her own grilled cheese sandwich...... yep, I guess so).

I'm hanging with my homegirl Bea on Easter.  Gotta think up something to make.  Maybe Hot Cross buns.

My vacation starts Tuesday!!  Marcel will come to be with me Tuesday, and he will drive me to the airport early Wednesday.  I meet my sis in Dallas.  Looking forward to it!

I'm glad - sometimes I think it's so lame and that I am only thinking of one thing all the time (broken record)..... then I realise IT'S TRUE so why not just go with it for awhile :-)

I guess I haven't been because I don't want him to be annoyed. I will have to find opportunities.

Maybe we will get lucky like you and your boy - that would be awesome :-)

I love reading your notes about you and your german :) It reminds me of the newness of exploring a relationship and all the little things we tend to forget as the years roll by. Inspired by your note I am making hubby an "easter basket" just for the fun of it. :)

And yes, we need more pics of Marcel! And you too! Tell him the hens on LJ want to see him! LOL

And I bet the kidling can make more for herself than she wants you (as Mom) to believe. hehe Kids have a way of surprising us that way.
