The alarm went off this morning, and I peeked out from under the covers to see the bedroom heater reading 59F.
Noooooooo!!!!!!
Second thought:  Why didn't I set up the coffee maker in the bedroom last night?

Thank goodness I was smart enough to wear actual pajamas and socks to bed.

Third thought:  There will be no walk this morning, so how will I wake up and warm up?

Rummaged through my entertainment cabinet and pulled out my workout DVD's - put on Reebok Step Workout (does anybody remember that - Gin Miller & the African Drums in the MTV-like setting? - still my favorite if I have to exercise inside).

Worked out with the sound off and my iPod on until the first pulse check (30 minutes) - the temperature on the heater was at 66F (wow, guess I'm hot huh??) ;-)

Only downside is after I had to take a shower (and then get out of the shower.....Nooooo!!!!!)

The only reason I am going out today it because I have to go to Alamo Heights. Wed. I am off to see the dentist.

Even Shawn refused to go to work today.

Native Drumming is on the 20th at the Unlimited Book Store 7-9 it said on it's website. I will be very busy that day but am considering on going.

I wore my eskimo coat to work - the people at the gas station laughed.

I work Tuesday evenings - otherwise I'd go check it out. I think those people need to re-think their event sheduling to accomodate me...... :-)

lol - please tell me it wasn't 18F in your house! :-)

59 was inside - I think it as 30F outside (the chickens water has a crust of ice over it). Hey, how are your chickies? You haven't made posts here lately.

uh, 59? well, I suppose that IS cold for you in warm Texas! Our house, sans a fire built early AM, can be less & it feels nice to us... compared to the 13 degrees we had yesterday at 7:00! with light snow... On those days I bake to stay toasty warm with the cornbread and cookies.

What you're saying is that we really don't need anymore house than we can reach from our bed; as long as the area around our bed is well stocked!

umm.. is that because it's cold?

*boggles*

We have been experimenting with dropping the temperature in the house down. I put it at 50 when we are all gone and try to keep it in the lower 60's when people are home. It's fine for me but for slovenly teens who lie around watching TV in t-shirts and no socks "It's COLD!"

That reminds me of when I visited my friend in Savannah a couple of springs ago. Well, I thought it was srping. I was in short sleeves and she had on a heavy jacket.

My central heat is so inefficient I don't use it. I use space heaters in the area I need them. My house is only 1100 square feet, so this works okay. It does limit how I use the house on the coldest days though. I'd move my PC into my bedroom if I could - but I don't want my daughter hanging out in my santuary :-)

Luckily it rarely gets brutally cold here. I am comfortable at about 65 degrees and stay okay until about 97 degrees. I don't turn my air conditioner on until the outside temperature exceeds 95F.

hahaha sorry... yeah, the house smells really yummy with a pot of split pea soup, too.

Yesterday I made lemon shortbread which is TOO good and rich.. froze them. Today it's the Butter Nut Snowballs, my mom's famous holiday cookie we all crave.

I'm not baking this year. I was going to make soap, but I never got around to that either.

Maybe I'll give people eggs this year..... :-)

I went to 1 year of college in Massachusetts. I was born there (moved before I could walk). I was utterly miserable. My friends said I'd get used to it, but I didn't stick around long enough (went home the following spring). Sometimes at night I'd breath in and I'd swear my lungs were freezing!

eggs are a great idea if you have that many..! we're still getting 4-5 a day from the new baby hens... the older girls, nada yet.

The baking frenzy isn't for gifts... It's for us! I may have mentioned how VERY little I'm doing.. not even cards? A few years I was INCAPABLE of not doing cards, gifts, all of it... I think I just burned out~

This was the first year in many I sent some cards out. For years I only did digital because the cost of postage was so annoying. I got so much enjoyment from it - I'll start doing it every year (only at Christmas...I'm still a tightwad afterall..) :-)

My girls are averaging 5-6 a day right now. With Sierra here we do okay eating them (I bake with them - and I give me neighbor's daughter eggs when she comes over to visit. If I get too many I boil them up and make deviled eggs for work.

I love deviled eggs... ohhhh boy... but somehow when I make them they're not as good as when I eat them a party or picnic!

Good for you with cards. I sometimes am more ambitious with some kind of scanned family pic collage made into a card.. dunno why I haven't felt the creative juice for it ...yet.. may still happen.. !

I'd like to do handmade cards or something extra personalized next year. My friend Dawn (LJ name Sahlah) makes this hilarious xmas family newsleter every year - cracks me up.

I don't like the cold, either! Ice on your chook's water - reminds me of when I was a kid and looked after my mum's goats. I would ave to break the ice on their water every morning. Brrr!

You have a clever way to get warm! (And fun!) I love your sense of humour, too :) (the temperature on the heater was at 66F (wow, guess I'm hot huh??) ;-) )
