Okay - changed my mind last minute.  Instead of going to Lost Maples (which was over 100 miles away) I opted for Medina River Natural Area (which was a little over 50).  Nice little hike, but not any longer or more exerting (is that a word?) than my morning walk).  Again, I was the only one on the trail.  There were a few people fishing though.  I wouldn't make this a destination in itself, but there is the Mission National Historic Park nearby (which Sierra didn't want to go to - old crabby fart) :-)

Sure - just say when. This whole area we live in is rich in history. Even before I lived here I was fascinated with Texas and its role in American history.

Nice. I really liked the picture of the path between the trees and the tree roots. Gosh, what a nice place to walk.

Talk about memories! When my Dad was stationed at San Antonio and at Austin we went to so many of the places you are going to. I remember fondly many Girl Scout campouts (and family campouts) at Medina (and Caddo, and...). THank you for sharing as at least once a week I am reminded of something happy from my childhood :)
