* Morning walk was a little short - 35 minutes.  I don't have my stats because I'm at work, and my heart monitor it at home.  I listened to a Dharma Talk podcast - Generosity & Gratitude.

* I knew Colin Powell would eventually endorse Obama.

*  I've worked in my job a little over three years, and today was the first time a customer made me cry.  While the customer was arrogant & belligerent - that wasn't the reason I lost it.  His order was in a security hold - I explained what needed to be done to get it off hold, but he wasn't hearing it - he just insisted on talking to my supervisor (who would tell him the same thing) Well, she was in a meeting - and told me to get his number and she'd call him back (which you can't do with this type of customer)..... I explained to him, and he went through the roof hysterical and screaming at me to put on someone who isn't incompetent - the president of the company if necessary.  I put him on hold, had my tears, and called a supervisor in another department.   Then later I was "spoken to" about calling a supervisor in another department ("if it was that bad - why didn't you call me back and say "I really need you to talk to this guy" - - jeez, I woudn't have called you in the first place if I didn't REALLY NEED YOU TO TALK TO HIM)  I'm a little angry I let it get to me - and now I really hate my job more than ever before (if that's possible).  Today I want the SuperPower of reaching through the phone and pinching obnoxious customers on the arm .... hard.

*  I got some balloons today from friends at work (we buy them for each other during the United Way fundraiser).  So, at least there's that.

* 6 1/2 more hours to go......

PU.. sorry it was such a hard time with jerky people... Don't people realize they get much better results being patient and kind than poopy!? People can be so awful especially on the phone when they don't have to look at you...

I've actually had phone helpers thank me for being nice about things. They've told me how awful callers are to them.

Hope your balloons helped you feel much better... Here comes another one from me (imaginary...)Do something FUN for yourself after you get off work!

I'm sorry to hear you had to suffer being spoken to like that by a customer. That's not fair or nice at all. I can only assume he was very upset, but he shouldn't have been so nasty to you [[[hugs]]]

He is so lucky he didn't get me. I use to torment the hell out of customers and tell them crap right back. Then when they asked for my name I would say "my name is Mary damn it!"

It caught on at my office too. Soon many people where doing the "Mary."

A short time later a woman was hired who had the name Mary. They fired her after a couple of weeks. They could not understand how she could have so many complaints in such a short time of working there.

She was better off not working there because the place sucked. It had a huge turn over. Most people didn't make it through "training." (This is the computer, this is the headset, these are the forms, good luck.)

If you didn't live so far away I am sure you would like working at Humana.

Obviously that's horrible what that customer did to you but that's really sucky that your supervisor didn't back you up and just made it worse. They're there to support you. That's just wrong.

I hope the rest of your day was better. And I really hope Karma comes back and kicks them both in the ass.

You really were the meat in the sandwich there. *hugs*

I hope the gift of balloons did in some way alleviate a little bit of the pain. May a new job you like that pays even better than this one come your way soon.

I'm sorry, I wish I could tie that jerk up and roll him around in pig sh*t for you,
I don't like creeps who make people cry.

I'm not normally a crier. I think it was combination of customer, lack of support from my sup, and the fact that I'm not at all incompetant - the problem was with another dept. altogether (though you can't say that to the customer - which is frustrating). I felt backed into a corner without any power to make it right for the customer (which I usally am able to do).
