It was slightly chilly this morning. I woke up in the middle of the night to turn off my window fan and put some jammies on. I'm going to have to rethink walking attire.
Debate last night.
I think Obama's performance was better for undecided voters - though he wasn't on fire.
McCain says businesses WANT to do the right thing by their employees by providing them with the best coverage.
I don't agree that all do - or that most do. Businesses have become greedy profit making monsters who generally begrudgingly offer benefits, and they will try and get away with as little as possible.
Furthermore, the lower income folks with less education and job skills get stuck with the crappiest of employers who are the worst offenders.
.....and McCain is a condescending ass (I'm just sayin')
Today didn't go exactly as expected; however, I refuse to focus on the negatives. Here are the positives:
* I had an appointment this morning with my new Optomitrist Dr. Patel convinced me to give a certain kind of contact lens a try. I'd sworn off them because I can't read ANYTHING with contacts in which means I have to wear reading glasses practically 24/7 - defeating the purpose. I was skeptical, but when he explained to me how the lenses work - I got excited to give them a go (sucker for any new hi-tech thingamajig). Wow! - they rock, I bet they are expensive. I'm wearing them for a week - then will see if I need to adjust the perscription etc.
* I got my hair cut.
* I listened to an outstanding dharma talk courtesy of
walksbeauty just the medicine I needed with the current political and economic stuff going on.

Date: 2008-10-09 03:23 am (UTC)Employers will drop coverage like a hot potatoes, giving you the tax credit; leaving you to pay $5000. Now even though your employer is no longer paying your health insurance, they are not going to give every employee a $ 5-10,000 raise to compensate for their savings, leaving us all a, at least $5000 in the red.

Date: 2008-10-09 04:01 pm (UTC)I think we're going to need to tweak it because I can't read small print which I do a lot of in my work. If I can wear reading glasses just for the smallest script, it can live with it - but maybe he can adjust the contacts. We'll see.
I'll keep you posted.
