Okay, it took me most of the day - - and this is only 1/3 of the garden, but I felt accomplished since it's better than what I was doing
....which was nothing.
My plan it to do the rest this coming weekend.
That way I can do that thing in Austin on Saturday the 18th, and go and see Max Payne Sunday 19th without having it hang over my head.

Tilled and Prepped the rows - ready for covering

Covered, planted, and installed hoops for row covers.

and then it's MOJITO & Sergio Mendes time :-)

OMG. Your garden is so HUGE! and you did SO much all in one day!? It's all planted!?! wow.. I'm amazed & impressed! Yay Mojito & Sergio! I bet you slept well!

That's just 1/3 of it. The garden is about 40x50, and that's as much as I can care for. It's not always 100% planted, but in winter it is.

I can drink two - I'm a total lightweight.

40x50!? That is so huge...! What do you do with all that food? You must produce enough to open your own Farmer's Market! wow.... like what can you grown all winter there? What a great deal to grow outside all winter... wow

All cool season veggies will grow all winter here. Some of the more tender ones I cover during the frost, but they do fine too.

I rarely buy veggies in the winter - I also freeze/dry/can a good supply for myself. The rest I give away. I thought of growing for the farmers market - - but it's too much hassle as a hobby.

If I didn't have to worry about dental/medical insurance, I'd definitely do it full-time; I'm sure I'd be good at it.

You would be good at that! With that amount of space you must have TONS Of food... so carrots, beets, onions, cabbage, broccoli, cauliflour, kale, chard... lettuce? spinach, garlic, what am I forgetting? all of that stuff... now I am so envious of a WHOLE new garden you're starting as mine is ending... hopefully my greenhouse garden will work for some winter things. Can you do squash or tomatoes in winter?

Does that bottled Mojito have Rum in it? is it good? I'll have to try one!

No, it's kind of like Zima - it's a flavored malt beverage. My drink of choice is Gin & 7up with lots of lime, but I never get around to actually going to a liquor store to buy any.

Don't know what Zima is.. duh... So the Mojito drink has a beer taste? The real ones are rum and lime, right?

No, it tastes like a Mojito :-)
The Margarita malt beverages are good too.

Yep, now that I know I can drink without having to have a cigarette - it's nice. I missed having a nice mellow buzz.

yay! I was just thinking when we were up at the corner store getting a margarita for me :) and I saw all the cigarette signs how HAPPY I was that I no longer smoked! Then I got your note... and the margarita blended with ice was delish.. need to still find that Mojito.

You're in Houston - you probably have a huge winter garden with that warm weather! (probably grow Avocados and Lemons too right?)

Haven't done a winter garden in years. But I do have an orange tree in the backyard. Hasn't made oranges yet. But it will soon I think. Next year or two.

One of my favorite things is to listen to music and watch the sun go down and the chickens head up the ramp to bed. I'm low maintenance like that :-)
