Finally pictures of the garden. I took these weeks ago, but it took a week to get the CD made from the printer (long story). Can't wait until my digital camera comes back from the shop.

Dorie's Garden (May-June 2007)

Under the Cucumber Tee-Pee
These are Suyo-Long. When I took the pic they'd just began blooming and forming fruit. I got about a dozen or more cucumbers off each vine. They stopped earlier than usual because they got powdery mildew due to a stretch of rain & hot weather.

Mystery Cherry Tomatoes
I got these plants (there are 3 total) from Maldonado's Nursery. They were simply marked "cherry tomato". Nobody there could give me a variety name (how professional of them). I had not a single problem with these so far - they grow like crazy and produce ping pong ball sized fruit that weight 2-3 ounces. Sure wish I knew what variety they were.

David & Goliath
My little electric mower vs. my big acre lot (not counting back pasture). Since my riding mower is a lemon and always has something wrong with it - I am now mowing everything but the back pasture with my little electric guy. Takes awhile, but it's kind of relaxing.

Future Herb Garden Site
This site will be an herb garden in the future. Still working out the plan. I was going to put the chicken coop here, but it's too close to the neighbors and the electric guy would not have access when I fenced it in.

Chi & Mo
My HomeDogs. Someday I will secure the whole property so they can run wild, but for now they have to stay in their chainlink prison.

BlackBerries
I put these in this winter. Digging the bed was a whole lot of work. I got a handful of berries from them this first year, but next year - watch out! (there is Chi in the background)

Garlic & Basil
The funny thing about that darned garlic. I planted it late fall, and I'm thinking I'll have garlic in the spring. Wrong. It's stiill not ready and it's June. I think it's getting closer though. In the foreground is Lemon Basil. When this was taken they were small. Now they are very big, and I'm letting 2 of the 6 go to flower for the butterflies and bees.

Tomatoes & Peppers
Left row are Tomatoes (variety: Tomato 444). These were whoppers. Most of them 1 pound each. No problemw with pests or disease. Right is peppers. Foreground Bell Peppers - background Mild Jalapenos planted with onions (long story on that one).

Garden Side-View
It doesn't show the whole garden, but this is a nice view of the summer garden.

The Garden Swing
This is where I read and dream. Sometimes I even take a nap here (seat folds down to a futon bed - how cool is that?)

Neighbors Chickens
My neighbors chickens hop over from two properties over and come hang at my place. They like to scratch in the compost areas. There is also a rabbit who visits and eats from my veggie garden. Haven't been able to photograph him. I don't mind - I definately have enough to go around.

The Fig Tree That Wouldn't Die
This is the fig tree that I almost killed twice. It likes to look nice - it doesn' t like producing figs very much. I don't mind though - it makes nice shade for the swing.

There is a baby Pomagranate tree there somewhere. It's my ongoing experiment to see how successfully I can camouflage my plants/trees...... In the background are my neighbors sheep.

Ready to Pickle!
I took this the day I bought all my canning supplies. That night I made my first batch of pickles. I also plan to can tomatoes and pickle peppers this year. I will freeze most everything else.
