* It seems as though Rooster thinks I'm his competition.  Today I was sitting out with the flock and two of the hens jumped up on the chair for petting.  Roo came up and began (not nicely) pecking at my leg and doing that macho dance he does.  Then a little later I was lifting one of the birds off the chair so I could get up and she squalked - Roos came unglued and raced for me menacingly.  I maneuvered around him and gathered him up uptil he calmed down.  I let him go and he strutted away not before shooting me a disgusted look.  :-)

*  I did something today that was really hard.  I called Home Depot and made an appointment for someone to come out and give me an estimate on siding and window replacement.  Normal people don't find a task like this hard.  I've been trying to do this little task for well over a year.  That and getting the A/C in my truck looked at (though I have a friend who is making that one a little easier), and finding out what's wrong with my well pump.  I'm really not positive I understand the neurosis, but I'm pretty sure it's fear of someone telling me something I don't want to hear ....... this is closely tied to money I think.  I really feel I should see a professional about it (I'll let you know how I progress with that task......) :-)

*  I'm almost done transferring my plastic storage containers to glass.  I'm using quart mason jars.  I'll have to make a list of what's where because the jars are three deep.  I like it better than the plastic bins though.

*  Before I forget - please go here if for Interspecies Snorgling (you'll will not be able to stop saying Awwwwwww out loud) :-)

I'm inspired by your neat jars! I have been wanting to organize my grains, flours, beans, etc for so long and keep putting it off! I like your nice big labels.

I am in awe of you swooping up your rooster like that. I get intimidated if a rooster comes menacingly at me! We've gotten rid of one who did that 'cause he scared me!

I don't think you have a problem.,.. not a phobia really.. just probably what you said.. worried it will be too much to do easily.

Somethings, you can't or don't have time to do yourself; we've been slowly adding a couple windows at a time for years; there is no way i'm going tackle that myself, even though it is supposed to be simple. But this year with the instability of jobs and the economy, we're going to wait.

I've been there on fear of how big the problem could be too.

I just don't have the knowledge. I will be watchign them install the ones I get - and you better believe I'll be trying it myself. The siding is too much - and it's important that it gets done right. On one side of my house the siding has rotted through - it has to get done, I've put it off too long. If I wait longer it will affect the house itself with wood rot and/or mold.

Roo is just protecting his flock :) You have tried to make him as tame as possible, but hormones have taken over! I like you attitude. I don't take ant s**t from roosters, either! You can always threaten him with the pot - you only have to mentally mean it, not really do it :)

I love how all your food is transferred to jars - I did that last summer, too :) Natural material is so much better. I will admit I did it because of the big situation, though :)

I know why that stuff is really hard- it is really expensive! And only getting more so. I don't think you need therapy for it - that only costs money as well :)

I knew a mean rooster once. He never missed a chance to nail someone. Bonus points if they screamed!

He was a demon in rooster form. I called him Charlie the Satanic Rooster. He was black and red so you know that was no accident.

They think because he use to be a show rooster and then got quickly down graded to farm animal it pissed him off so bad it turned him evil.

Hahaha - Seriously, why do they have to have such an attitude? I think it will all work out as long as I keep him in his place. I'm not afraid of him I have no problem taking him on :-)

It was that way with Charlie and me. But he saw it as a challenge and got more sneaky and evil. He would hide and come out of no where to attack.

One day I pissed him off repeatedly all morning and he got so mad he screamed for almost an hour like someone was killing him. He also kept calling for me to come out of the house and was stalking me at the windows.

Charlie was also perverted. He was into that inter-species love thing. He was in love with a duck who just was not into him. She ran off with another duck and had kids on a different part of the farm. After Charlie died she and her grown kids came back to the house.

Charlie's death is a mystery. We think he was murdered. We never found his body, not even a feather. There where rumors around the barn yard that a fox might have killed him. It's either that or he found another duck at the pond and they ran off together. But Charlie was not the kind of guy any lady would want to run away with.

Roosters can be so mean, lol!

We need our windows replaced, too. Had an estimate done last fall...hopefully will have them replaced next year. I'm avoiding it because of the cost, the mess and the general annoyance factor. I think it will make a big difference however in keeping the house cooler in the summer.

Love the mason jar idea.

Hey, Chickie! I absolutely love the jars! I'm still trying to figure out what is in them. Looks great!

My roo is the only chicken I've raised that won't come near me. The only reason I've kept him is to annoy my neighbors (loooooong story), but he hasn't started crowing yet. I'm waiting.

Wow, your neighbors are annoyed and he hasn't even started crowing yet.... hahaha

My stuff is mostly assorted grains and beans. I rarely (almost never) eat meat, so I keep a big variety of other protein sources (and now I have eggs!) :-)

Same here - I'm always looking for more protein sources that aren't fake meat. I'm being really nosey here - :^) Is that kala chana? And what is next to it on the left? And what do you do with Marmite?

Top Shelf: Fava Beans, Kala Chana, Tea, Stevia
(and random stuff like spring roll skins, etc.)

2nd Shelf: Beechnut Cereal (overprocessed oats), Nescafe Instant Coffee, Red Lentils, hidden jars, Yerba Matte, Whole Oat Groats, Amaranth.

(behind is just more rice, beans, instant potatoes, etc.) :-)

3rd Shelf: Pure Lemon Powder, Lavender Blossoms (for flavoring tea), and veggie chips (see Fiesta posts), Marmite, Hemp Seed Protein Powder, and random canned items.

Whew!!

Marmite is from UK it's a savory salty yeasty spread. Normal people spread it on buttered toast. I eat peanut butter & marmite sandiwches :-)

Wow, thanks for the inventory. I love to go through people's pantries. I'm just a little food oriented.

I am now fascinated, yet cautious, of this Marmite.

It's very similar to Vegemite. Since Vegemite got bought about by Frankenfood Kraft I only buy Marmite now. It's better anyway.

I haven't been on PCOT in ages. I need to make a habit of logging on at least once a week. I love the people there, I just never seem to take the detour over there.
