I found this excruciatingly sad and adorable at the same time.
It reminds me how much more difficult my daughter has it growing up in her world than I did in mine.
It made me feel bad for being so damn hard on her sometimes.

Of course my reaction could also be caused by my monthly that came 5 days early

I heard hope in that song. It made me think of the 1960's when it was the voices of the young people that finally made the nation listen. We've lived through some bad stuff too.

As a parent I know my kid will have to face down the bad stuff we are dishing now... but I have huge hope that we have also given him the tools to start the job. Our kids will have to shape the next act. They will do it in ways we don't imagine yet.

Hugs to your beautiful daughter - she's gonna make it, she's gonna shape it, and she's gonna rock our world.

Keep the faith :)

Whew... I just listened... I feel the same way. I pulled up the lyrics to read also and I just had to weep some... and it's not my time of the month :0

Not all that different at the feeling level for those of us who watched the last president we actually believed in get murdered... and then the craziness of Vietnam... and everything since. I feel for this generation of young adults.

My great hope is that our children have what it will take to make the changes we didn't seem to be able to muster as the 60's generation turned into acquisitve, complacent yuppies. We can only hope for the next 7 generations. We can pray we will have 7 more...

I try to teach, protect and love my daughter every minute even when I'm think I'm being hard on her.

You know what I think I learn more from her than she does from me.
