I found this excruciatingly sad and adorable at the same time.
It reminds me how much more difficult my daughter has it growing up in her world than I did in mine.
It made me feel bad for being so damn hard on her sometimes.
Of course my reaction could also be caused by my monthly that came 5 days early

Date: 2008-07-16 01:25 pm (UTC)As a parent I know my kid will have to face down the bad stuff we are dishing now... but I have huge hope that we have also given him the tools to start the job. Our kids will have to shape the next act. They will do it in ways we don't imagine yet.
Hugs to your beautiful daughter - she's gonna make it, she's gonna shape it, and she's gonna rock our world.
Keep the faith :)

Date: 2008-07-16 06:58 pm (UTC)Not all that different at the feeling level for those of us who watched the last president we actually believed in get murdered... and then the craziness of Vietnam... and everything since. I feel for this generation of young adults.
My great hope is that our children have what it will take to make the changes we didn't seem to be able to muster as the 60's generation turned into acquisitve, complacent yuppies. We can only hope for the next 7 generations. We can pray we will have 7 more...
