I put a larger version behind the cut as you can't read the text in the smaller one.

Wow.. I wish I still had the popsicle maker thingys from when my kids were young. I bet you can still find those things in the Kitchenware section? These pops sound so interesting, yummy and healthy!

Since I saw this article I'm going to seek them out. They might have them at Target this time of year. I'll let you know if I find any in the usual places. Maybe I'll try a google search - I dunno. :)

It's a good time of year for these since fruit is all on sale. I picked up big Haden(sp) Mangoes @ 3 for $1 and big seedless watermelons for 3.99. I do green smoothies, so I always stock up and freeze for use in the winter.

Those look good! I sometimes see popsicle maker trays when I shop at the various thrift stores around here. Next time I see one, I just may have to buy it!

I still have my popsicle maker things (however finding them right now is a different story!!! I know they are in a box in the attic marked 'kitchen stuff'.) I love the sound of the pineapple ones. YUM!!!

Those combinations are so weird :)

You made me remember. When it is really hot weather, I eat home-made ice-blocks :)

I am very curious, would you mind telling me what you put in your green smoothies? I need more greens in my diet, and this might be the way to do it. Don't worry if it is too much trouble, though.

I was cleaning up my message page then realized when I delete something there it actually DELETES IT!! Luckily I noticed right away and hit back so I copied and pasted it. So here it is in case you didn't see it the first time (which of course you did - duh - since it comes in email.... I'm losing it). Well anyway....

No trouble at all.

For greens I prefer fresh spinach or swiss chard, but you can use anything or a combination of greens. Romaine letuce, leaf lettuce even. Also wild greens.

This is kind of like soup - you can make endless variations and there aren't any rules.

I put in about a cup of frozen fruit or fruit cubes (I puree melons in season and freeze them in ice cube trays). You can leave the skin on things like grapes and apples. I like a combination of fruits. Frozen because then you don't have to deal with ice cubes and the smoothie is much richer this way.

To that I add either water or cold herb tea (I start with 1 cup). I Puree for a littel while (add liquid if you need to). Then I add a handful of greens and puree some more until it's like a shake (add liquid as needed). I've also added flavorings like spices or a dash of vanilla etc. etc.

There is a book called "Green for Life" by Victoria Boutenko which is inspiring which talks about the health benefits and gives recipes. It's a good read, but you don't need it to make them.

Thanks for that!

I think I have made something similar, where I put tomatoes in a blender, then added some greens, including onion chives. It was yummy! I guess I could add some fresh green herbs, like marjoram :)

But I haven't tried it with fruit!
