I am not shy how I feel about this.  Instead of raping our resources further - let's at least put some honest effort into renewable energy and fuel efficient vehicle technology.
& another thing...... since we're stomping all over our freedoms these days - how about making it illegal to own a Hummer or SUV???

"Once again, the oilman in the White House is echoing the demands of Big Oil," said House Speaker Nancy Pelosi "The Bush plan is a hoax. It will neither reduce gas prices nor increase energy independence. It just gives millions more acres to the same companies that are sitting on nearly 68 million acres of public lands and coastal areas."

Unfortunately, all the technology we could possible need exists already. It's just being held so it can't be used.

Have you watched "Who Killed the Electric Car?" I LOVED that movie! One of the best documentaries.

Story: So I'm flying home from California a few weeks ago & as the plane's filling up this guy passes the empty seat nest to me and then turns and comes back. He begins to casually chat with me when he sees the magazine I'm reading which is about consciousness and asks me some question. We have this great talk about spiritual matters and he mentions he's a filmmaker and is working on a documentary about Rajneesh so I recount a story about my time in India and anecdotes about Rajneesh from those days. He says, "I knew I was supposed to turn around and sit by you." hahahah and it turns out HE was the "Electric car" film maker. It was so cool... so we've emailed about things a little.. such a fascinating fellow. I think htat movie is mind-boggling. Talk about a wake up call!

Yes, I watched this documentary. I've been pissed off ever since.... :-) I never understood why a group of actors like Jay Leno, Tom Hanks, George Clooney, etc. don't get together and make it happen. They are all "green" and rich. I guess there's a lot more $$$ on the line than opening a few Planet Hollywoods... :-)

I'm not proud of it, but when I see those giant trucks that sound like a locomotive (you know the kind - super king crew cab giant extra long bed without a scratch on it because it hasn't "worked" a day since it came off the factory floor) I kind of smirk a little knowing how much that SOB is paying to fill it up.

I've learned to accept and even embrace a lot in my "old" age, but I still get ticked off with selfish arrogant people. "The Wasters" are those people - the ones who water their lawns every day, drive giant gas guzzlers, and don't even make an effort to recycle.

I guess that's part of the main reason why I am so depressed all the time is because I have to spend 40+ hours a week kissing those "wasters" asses. I need to find a new job for sure.

You and me both. Problem is things I want to do don't pay the mortgage :-/

Ditto. I personally think we should go for more wind power. I know people say it will ruin scenery, destroy the 'wilderness experience' (AT protectors) but, you know what? Seeing dead trees - miles and miles of them- from acid rain which is caused by the pollution of oil fired factories ruins my wilderness experience. And looking at oil rigs off the coast is much less appealing than looking at graceful wind mills. (in my opinion)

Agreed. I don't see them as an eyesore at all - I guess it's how you choose to see them. I'd put them on my property.

Wanna get more mad:
http://money.cnn.com/2008/06/23/news/economy/oil_drilling/index.htm?cnn=yes

They already have 70 million off shore acres they could drill today - they aren't using. They don't get any more - greedy pigs.

That was such a political ploy yesterday. And McCain agrees with him. WTF if wrong with McCain - when did he completely and totally sell out his soul. He used to be against this sort of thing.

It doesn't sound like the legislature has any intention of lifting their side of the ban. Thank goodness.

Even T. Boone Pickens wants to go alternative.

Oh you just gave me total Deja vu goosebumps!!!
Sunday my neighbor and I were discussing the water situation (he's off water grid - I'm on) and he brought up T Boone Pickens who I'd never heard of before. He explained who he was and said I should look him up. I even went inside and wrote his name on a scratch piece of paper to look into next day off. Never heard of him before in my life - now within two day two people mention him. So, you know I have to go and follow this Celestine nudge :-)

If the legislature allows this I totally give up. I'm just going to grab a blanket and go live in the mountains in a cave. :-)
