Ugh what a weird and in some ways awful day it turned out to be.

I got up at a reasonable hour, and I let the chickens out - did some digging for the lavender bed - and did a morning walk.  Then I hung at the PC a little while messing with Itunes and Imeem.  Then I went to the sink to get a glass of water because I was hot and thirsty by now.

No water.

My first thought - oops, they got my nasty letter about last month's water bill and decided to teach me a lesson.  I went to my neighbor to ask him if his water was okay, but I'd forgotten he's 100% off the grid waterwise.  He said walk the back property and make sure there's no ponds there from a line break.  I did - there wasn't.  Called the water company - there was a water main break they were working on (this was about 1pm) - and it'd me 3 or 4 hours before we had water again.

I said $%*@ that and went to the movies and saw Hellboy II.  Way worth it.  Eye candy and great effects.  No real plot or great performances, but who cares!?  I'll be buying this one, and I rarely buy DVD's.  The sets and costumes were stunning - especially in Troll Village (or was it town?).  I would have felt I'd gotten my monies worth had I even paid full price.

Got home after a side trip to Lowes for more planting supplies.

No Water.

So, I managed to finish the first Lavender bed.  Mind you - I'm a veggie gardener not a landscaper, and the poor Lavender plants are lost in their bed right now - but here's
Type your cut contents here.

I am not a neat and orderly person - especially when doing any type of project.
(by the way - I got those bring thingies for 80cents each at Walmart last night - all garden stuff is on sale)

I have no clue as to what I'm doing - Seriously
(that board is so when I kneel down I don't put giant "knee-craters" in the bed)

Here is the final bed.  I still have to do the left one.  The plants should fill it out pretty well later (I hope).  They said allow 1 foot between each plant.  I guess I could have put 3 in each bed, but I only had 5 plants total.   I'm going to get some clever outdoor wall art when it goes on sale - maybe some Mexican geckos or something.  It'll look better at night :-)

It's now 11pm, and there's still No Water.

I'm filthy dirty -  I really need a shower.  I guess I can break out the baby wipes..... :-)

Those beds are going to look great when they are both done... and smell fantastic! I love the smell of lavendar. I need to plant some.

And boo about the water. I know that is annoying. :-/ Hopefully it is fixed by the time you get up this morning.

Nice job - those plants will get big. I have two that are easily two foot tall and wide. Sadly they may have to go because they were damaged in a freak April snow we had and the woody limbs are broken. I've let them bloom this season, then I am going to cut them way back. It might kill them, but they are a mess anyway.

Hope the water came back.

water yet?

Maybe you can plant some prickly pear, which could be both eatable and ornamental.

I know it's PG13, but how was it for 13 yr olds. My 13 yr boy wants to see it.

I think for 13 it would be okay. There's no real sex - but there is a fair amount of violence. Kids will love this movie though - it's got the right amount of fantasy and action - it's a real high energy flick.

There was a line up the road from me in Atlanta that used to break like seriously every month. And we'd be without water for a whole damn day like that when it would. It was so annoying! And they wouldn't replace the damned pipe, just patch it and then it'd break again in a month. Gah. Drove me nuts.

Hopefully yours is on by now.

Oh my... you had your water out! You handled it really well! Glad you got it back.

Mine was out in the studio today... the well DID have a leak which is why our house went out a few weeks ago.. they put us on a different well and now the leak has gone badly.. 3 places the pipe broke. Old archaic clay pipe or something.. weird..

Your lavenders will fill in nicely!! pretty and smell so nice..

I have PVC pipe, but they aren't bulletproof either. I've had lines burst on them as well.

I hope the lavender does well. One the side of the shed I'm thinking of a bed of sorrel with a trellis behind it for Jasmine vines. I'm not going to commit myself until I get caught up on everything I've already got going :-)

I'm not so familiar with sorrel... only remember picking it wild and it tasted like tart green apples. I know they love it in France.

Jasmine are SOOOO amazing. Mine are blooming like mad... another flush of blossoms and the area all around them are so fragrant. So I bet you can have them winter over there? LUCKY you! I had 3 in the house this winter that were baby plants, never bloomed. Now I also have these 3 big ones which I hope I can winter in the greenhouse. If I could grown them outside in a bed I'd have them all over! You seem to get caught up pretty quickly... have fun!

Your lavender garden is going to be gorgeous.

No water! Ugh! Maybe you should get a water tank? Although you probably have to get a permit for that.

I have a well for irrigation, but the pump is broken. My neighbor was going to help me re-dig and reinstall the well this winter so it will be more useful in irrigation; however, now I'm considering making it even better so I can use the water inside as well.

Currently we have water, but they've posted signs saying we have to boil our water until further notice. That's just as scary as having my own well.... :-)
