Updated Update
Jul. 30th, 2009 01:27 pmFirstly - sorry if I didn't reply to posts made Wednesday - I did read all of them, but there were just so many.
So, my date day with my hubby didn't go exactly as planned. Instead of dinner & movie Wednesday - we both drove down to Corpus (in separate vehicles). Family matters (no drama - just stuff that needed to be done). While there we worked on decluttering stuff in the carport and had a nice walk on the beach.
On my way down I listened to a Splendid Table podcast segment which covered an Austrian wine called Gruner Veltliner. Normally I don't get too excited about wine, but this segment really got me going. I asked Marcel about it when I saw him, and he was familiar with it. It's not something found at HEB or your local liquor store, so I'm going to make a scouting trip to SA this weekend to find some (if I get my chores done first).
Part of our decluttering involved large rubbermaid storage containers filled to the brim with magazines. Some National Geographic - but mostly food mags (Gourmet, Food & Wine, Bon Appetit, Saveur, R&I, etc.etc.). I probably didn't help the decluttering effort by insisting the food magaines (all of them - 3 laundry baskets FULL) come home with me. I am going to challenge myself to do one recipe from each magazine then clip any good recipes/articles and post them in my insane journal food clippings blog.
