Jan. 22nd, 2009 09:06 amIn a new segment of Baking By The Seat Of My Pants - - - Dorie produces some mighty tasty chocolate chip cookies and (at least 1) really awesome loaf of bread (you can probably guess which one it was from the picture). Why oh why can't I discipline myself to write what I'm doing down giving me the info to create a recipe if it turns out good. :-/
I made these cookies from leftover flour I'd blended for use with bread. I expected them to spread, but they didn't - so there's this fat little cookie that is still moist and chewy. I think it didn't spread because the flour blend had a fairly high gluten content, and I'd set the dough in the fridge for awhile whilst I waited for the bread to bake.
The bread all has the same flour mixture. The difference is in what I added after (eggs, mashed potatoes, and I can't remember what).
On another note - I've decided not to watch American Idol this year. I just have too many other things I'd rather be doing, and this isn't one of them.
