Weekend Wrap Up
Dec. 9th, 2008 08:06 amSo, as I was saying before
texasts came for the weekend (reminder - this is a platonic friendship only - seriously - not kidding or winking on the side - it really is).
The only real thing we had planned was my company Christmas party. It was an okay party. The food was good (and plenty of non-meat side dishes for me to have a meal). They had a casino, and we played blackjack. We left before it ended - gave my friend Bea our chips and raffle tickets. After we left she won an mp3 player and $500 cash. W00t!! Tom took pictures - I'm not sure if they came out okay or not as he didn't post any (rule - no posting my pic if I look like a hag)
Sunday morning I pulled out the waffle iron. Making homemade waffles (and garnishing/eating them) is one of my favorite things. I experiment with recipes, and there was a simple recipe Sierra and I saw on the Food Network Alton Brown show that looked too easy to be good. It ended up being excellent. Toppings available Whipped Cream, Bananas, butter, homemade berry sauce, and two kinds of maple syrup. Here's a link to a post from Tom's journal if you want to see pictures.
Sunday we decided to visit the Missions National Historical Park - the main facility is the Mission San Jose. Since we got a fairly late start (left the house after 11:30) - we only really had time for the one mission. If we'd left first thing in the morning we could have probably seen all of them if we were ambitious. Next time. Here's a link to Tom's post about the mission (I know, I'm lazy - but why re-invent the wheel)
On the way back in the afternoon we were looking for a restaurant to eat at - to my delight Tom decided to stay another night, so I got the idea to make something myself and have a dinner/movie evening. We hit SunHarvest Farms for groceries and headed to the hacienda. I made Fajitas (and cooked chicken - something I don't do for just anybody....) Tom's fajita post with pictures I rented and we watched Fred Claus.
So, yeah - fun weekend.
Since Tom and I are both adults of the opposite sex spending a weekend together.......
I feel the need to say again that we are not romantically involved.
