Timber!

The highlight of my weekend is my brilliant idea to cut down a mega tree section that was hanging over my carport.  It looked innocent enough, but I was very wrong.  It was much bigger and heavier than I imagined.  Now I see why they pay people to do these things.....

On the first cut it went down - about 5" from my truck, and  on the way it swished down a wasps nest that was just outside the carport entry (duh - I should have video taped this whole thing - it could have been a Nationwide commercial).

(I'd cut it 3/4 of the way through here but stopped when I realized it just might take down my truck and carport.  I surveyed the situation then got up and cut it the rest of the way (which is when the cut end fell and broke the fence....haha)

This is still the same giant limb as seen from the carport.  That's how big this sucker was.  This part is the part that the wasps were not happy with and the one that almost took my truck down.

As if this all wasn't exciting and scary enough.  Whilst I was cutting everything up into manageable pieces, I tripped and landed BOOM right on the ground barely breaking the fall since I had a carpenter saw in one which I didn't want to cut me.  I landed on one of the sawd off branches which poked my side (big ugly bruise, but didn't break the skin).  My left hand and knee took the most damage.  Palm of my hand - vessel broke inside and it looked very ugly.  Knee swollen up like a football with big ugly bruises; however, strangely enough while it's very swollen and hurts if you poke at it - I can bend and walk on it okay.

(this picture was taken a week and two days after I posted this.  I'm just popping it in here to keep it in context.  The swelling and bruising has gone down considerably, but it's still pretty ugly - and a water pillow formed on top of my knee)

So yeah, this was most of my Sunday though I was able to do some weedeating and work in the vegetable garden preparing beds.  I also toted water to the cow since my neighbors went away for the weekend and didn't leave any water in her trough........  I also bought some fly spray and got her sprayed down (she didn't like that much, but I bribed her with bell peppers and cucumbers).
