Sunday
I put my lovely tomato seedlings (freshly repotted because they were growing so big) into the chickens water dish to re-hydrate - I turned my back - and next thing I know there are only stumps left.  How could I have been so dumb?

Sierra, Daniel, and I went to The Riverwalk and ended up at Joe's Crabshack.  Good times in spite of the rain.  I'd wanted to go to the Green "Kosher Opera" night, but the kids would have none of it.

Saturday
I can't remember that far back

Other Random Things

Morning walk was the Hook - 1 hour 10 minutes (no stopping for livestock).   I listened to two  Splendid Table podcast that talked about figs and heirloom tomatoes (but not together).

My schedule this week is different - I'm working for a pod-mate on Wednesday and I have Saturday off (yay).

I will see my German again next Wendesday.  He makes me smile.  He's coming here to New Braunfels.  I'm not sure how I feel about that. My house is so poor and rundown with bad plumbing and a dirt plot for a backyard because of the chickens.  What will he think of me?

"and next thing I know there are only stumps left."

You were expecting?!?

What is "the Green "Kosher Opera" night"?

And whom is this German?!?

That's what I mean - I'm dumb.... :-)

Green Restaurant in San Antonio has an Opera night. It's really informal, nothing fancy - and they just got their Kosher rating, so I guess they are advertising it as Kosher Opera night for fun.

I've mentioned him before, but those types of post go into my semi-private girlfriend filter (I mean really - who else but yoru best girlfriends want to hear you obsess about your lovelife and insecurities). He is a man I'm getting to know who lives in Corpus Christi. I visited him this past Wednesday - we spent the whole day together, and I like him a lot. I think he might even like me a little. We'll see after he comes to my house.... :-/

No you are not dumb...maybe somewhat naive (grins)

Green as in Vegitarian?

I know you have mentioned him before...Yankin' your chain. So this is the restauranteur...Gotcha. And if he likes you, the condition of your house will not make that much difference.

I mean hell, I still like you!

You have a GF filter?! Hmph!

Oh poop.. I'm sorry about your tomatoes! Silly chickens!

I hope Wednesday is nice.. he won't NOT like you if your house is whatever... and if he does he's not QUITE right for you, right?? Your home looks very nice in the pics! Have FUN!

Yes, Green is vegetarian (but don't hold that against them) :-)

Trust me - you do not want to be in my GF filter....

Really, if he doesn't like you because of your place, it certainly is not meant to be. Your place is darling! (From what I've seen) Would you want to be with someone who would hold something so trivial against you?

I didn't do any tom seeds this year. Guess I'll have to get started plants.

I have never had luck starting tomatoes or peppers from seed. I always buy them started and save myself the headache :-)

I want to get some (kinda rare.. hard to find) chicks called Barnvelder which lay a VERY dark brown chocolate-looking shelled egg. And them some Auracanas in the spring... blue and green ~*~

I wonder what the temperment is like. I came >this< close to getting Lakenvelders, but everyone said they weren't very friendly.

I'd love dark brown eggs though!

Lakenvelders I've heard can be tempermental (you made the better choice) but Barnvelders I've read are very calm & easy to care for, good to chicks, forage on their own and are independent and pretty with a lacey patterned plumage... plus dark eggs!

Oh no, don't worry what he'll think of you, he'll think you're amazing!!! So self sufficient and cool. Yeah, you're cool, and you have your own chickens! And you can make your own tempeh! I think he'll be very impressed. I just wonder if you will be, with him. But... he makes you smile, and that's really good. :))

He should be impressed with a lady who raises her own chickens, makes her own tofu, grows her own veggies, works on her own house. I know I've always been impressed with you :)
