Contact Lenses (Multi-Focal)

This is some information mostly for [livejournal.com profile] sahlah , but there might be others who find it helpful.

I haven't worn contacts in years because, to wear them, meant I had reading glasses on almost 24/7.  Recently I had an eye exam for a new pair of glasses and my doc insisted that I give multifocal lenses a try.  After a 2 week trial - I decided to buy a years supply.  They are a little pricey, but for me worth it.

My contact lenses are called FREQUENCY 55 MULTIFOCAL by Coopervision.

They don't correct for reading 100%.  Super small print, dim lighting, and colored backgrounds are still a problem.  They do correct enough so I can wear contacts again without havig to put on reading glasses EVERY TIME I have to read anything.  I carry a magnifying glass in my backpack for the few times there is something I just can't make out (or I make a friend by asking someone to read it for me) :-)

I am very near-sighted but so far I don't need reading glasses. I hate the idea of wearing contacts and dragging around reading glasses some day.

So now you don't wear spectacles?

I still wear them when I'm not wearing the contacts. At night and when I am going to be in a very dusty environment.

Multi-focals seem cool! I would hate to walk around all day as if wearing reading glasses. What a great advance in optometry!
