As the economy worsens companies that were once fair will steadily become sweatshops. It's going to get worse before it gets better. I see this with the company I work for which I used to think was very employee friendly. Part is the economy part the fact that they merged into a bigger company which is public. Corporate greed.
What do you do for work? Do you live in an area where there's opportunity?
I pretty much barely get by too. Luckily I am frugal and nothing financially devastating has happened to me (yet). If it weren't for the benefits, I'd make a go of my own business. The thought of being without medical/dental paralyzes me with anxiety. I think a lot of companies count on this basic fear. I'm ranting - sorry :-)
