I think they do just that - bait people in with a great deal of which they have only a handful. They do it with a lot of things, really, not just holiday sales. Car makers, game retailers, movie stores...they all order or produce less than the demand calls for, thus creating a frenzy and allowing them to charge even more when they flood the market with the second batch. Crooks, I tell you.
